McMaster University seeks applicants with a track record of excellence in academic leadership for the position of Vice Dean and Executive Director, School of Rehabilitation Science, Faculty of Health Sciences. The School of Rehabilitation Science is a national and international leader in education, research, and service activities with a unique interdisciplinary setting in which scholars from multiple professions collaborate to promote rehabilitation as a core health strategy through innovations and partnerships.

McMaster University is one of four Canadian universities consistently ranked among the Top 100 by the major global ranking systems with a research intensity that is twice the national average. McMaster University's Faculty of Health Sciences is unique in Canada as the pioneer in problem-based learning. It fosters exceptional interdisciplinary collaboration by combining health professional education in medicine, nursing, rehabilitation sciences, physician assistant, and midwifery with health-related undergraduate and graduate educational offerings in a single Faculty. The Faculty's School of Rehabilitation Science offers professional graduate programs in occupational therapy, physiotherapy, and speech-language pathology, post-professional and research training programs in rehabilitation science, and recently launched an integrated rehabilitation and humanities undergraduate program.

As the Executive Director of the School of Rehabilitation Science, you will oversee all activities related to the School's research and educational mission, and, as Vice Dean, you are a key member of the Faculty Executive Council, which oversees faculty-wide issues. Reporting to the Dean and Vice-President, Faculty of Health Sciences, you are accountable for the administration of the School including the application of faculty and university policies to the department, curriculum, appointments, and nominations to committees.

As the ideal candidate, you share McMaster's commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and Indigenous reconciliation and are committed to exemplary and innovative educational programming for students and to the advancement of healthcare and rehabilitation science through excellence in collaborative education, research, service and evidence-based practice. You are a respected scholar, strategic leader, and academic administrator who demonstrates great vision, champions change and innovation, develops people, and fosters a cohesive and enthusiastic community of faculty, staff, and students. You have a PhD in rehabilitation science, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, or speech language pathology.

Working alongside clinicians and researchers with national and international reputations for their scholarship, you will build respectful inter-professional relationships across the Faculty of Health Sciences and McMaster University to foster collaboration in both research and education. You have the academic and leadership credibility, confidence, and innovative drive necessary for leadership in health sciences at the institutional, national, and international levels.

Your full time academic appointment will be at a salary and academic rank commensurate with qualifications and experience and a stipend will be provided for this leadership role. The Selection Committee will begin review of applications in January 2024 and will continue to accept applications until a suitable candidate has been identified.

The diversity of our community and workforce is at the core of our innovation and creativity and strengthens our research and teaching excellence. In keeping with its Statement on Building an Inclusive Community with a Shared Purpose, McMaster University strives to embody the values of respect, collaboration, and diversity and has a strong commitment to employment equity.
