Strategy, Support and Integrated Initiatives (SSII) Division serves both ministries, partnering with stakeholders to translate priorities into meaningful plans and strategies based on evidence-based and forward-thinking approaches.

As part of SSII, the Business Intelligence (BI) Branch is mandated to provide high quality data, research, evaluation, and analysis to executive and senior management as well as program delivery staff across multiple ministries, the federal government, and police agencies.

The purpose of this work is to support strategic planning, policy development, continuous improvement, forecasting, legislated reporting, service design and delivery, as well as financial and human resource allocation.

The work of the branch contributes significantly to the Alberta Government's commitment to public accountability and transparency.

Role:

The Project Manager reports to the Director, Alberta Community Safety Data Analytics Lab (ACSAL). ACSAL constitutes one of the four units of the BI Branch.

As the project manager, you will play a key role in developing ACSAL, an entity that is working towards addressing the lack of timely and comprehensive access to community safety data in Alberta.

Currently, this lack of access has significant downstream impacts on the province's ability to make informed decisions, including in areas such as policy development, performance management, and interventions.

The ACSAL unit further works in collaboration with the other three units of BI to advance the analytical capacities of JUS and PSES more broadly.

You will bring your expertise and specialized knowledge of project management principles and agile development approaches to meet the needs of the ACSAL unit and the BI branch.

The Project Manager is responsible for project managing all ACSAL projects, managing stakeholder relationships, coordinating internal resources and vendors, and supporting the development of policy documents.

Some of your key responsibilities include:

  • Full scope project management for all ACSAL projects.
  • Managing all aspects of stakeholder relations: Facilitation, engagement and evaluation.
  • Procurement management.
  • Supporting policy development.
  • Working in collaboration with within your team, leadership, crossministry partners, and external stakeholders as required.
  • Providing all levels of management and executive with research findings that may inform decisionmaking and impact longterm policy and program direction in the department, particularly as they relate to the functioning of ACSAL.

Your ability to exercise judgement, work independently, negotiate and balance stakeholder needs, maintain neutrality when generating results and recommendations, time management, coupled with your sound interpersonal and communication skills will enable you to flourish in this role.
