  • JIAS Toronto is a notforprofit corporation dedicated to helping immigrants with resettlement in the Greater Toronto Area. JIAS Toronto assists lawfully admitted immigrants and refugees in meeting basic financial, social, legal, and other requirements of immigration. We work to advance the wellbeing and social integration of newcomers by providing a full range of outreach, support, counseling, training, and referral resources.
JIAS Toronto is currently seeking two (2)
Program Support Students to provide program support and data entry.

These full-time positions are funded by Canada Summer Jobs and require the incumbent to be between the ages of 18 to 30 years of age and be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment.


These positions will pay up to $18 per hour; the contracts will be for a total 420 hours.**
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide support in the administration, organizing and implementation of the Ready For School Program for newcomer children
  • Book rooms, transportation, field trips, outreach support
  • Collect and report attendance
  • Coordinate field trips (inperson or virtual), coordinate friendly callers for isolated seniors
  • Organize and distribute supplies
  • Communicate and assist with outreach for volunteers and clients
  • Enter data in a timely manner
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Some postsecondary education or experience in Social Work, Social Services, or a related field, or a combination of relevant education, training and experience
  • Experience working with newcomers, youth, and/or seniors
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills data entry skills
  • Fluency in languages that relate to the Agency client base will be considered an asset such as Hebrew, Russian, Arabic, Tigrinya, Farsi, Dari, Pashto, Ukrainian, etc
