    JOB OVERVIEW

    Reporting to the VP, Data Strategy, Analytics, and Solutions, the Director, Data and Analytics will provide pivotal leadership in shaping and executing our data strategy. As a key leader within the organization, you will oversee data governance practices, the efficient development and management of our data ecosystem, data engineering, and data integration strategies. The director will drive the overall business intelligence (BI) function to support the Society's revenue growth targets, operations, and mission services. Using your business acumen and deep technical proficiency, partner with business stakeholders to develop a deep understanding of business processes and requirements and contribute to the development of the strategic roadmap to ensure the Society's goal of being a data-driven organization. This position will lead, mentor, and motivate the data team to define processes, standards, and best practices to support delivery of reliable and timely data.

    WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

    1.Data Strategy and Governance

  • Lead the development and execution of a data strategy aligned with business objectives; collaborate with leadership to align data initiatives with organizational goals.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including DS&T, business units, and executive leadership, to ensure that data initiatives align with overall business strategies.
  • Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders to promote understanding and support for data-related requirements, initiatives, and programs.
  • Oversee the development, implementation, and enforcement of comprehensive data governance infrastructure, policies, procedures, and standards to ensure data stewardship, quality, integrity, compliance, privacy, and security.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to define and enforce data governance best practices across the organization; Establish data stewardship and custodian practices and alignment responsibilities for data ownership and accountability.
  • Ensure implementation and management of metadata management processes to ensure effective data governance.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the company's business processes and enabling solutions
  • Establish and maintain data quality frameworks, metadata management, and data lineage practices.
  • Ensure identification and mitigation of potential risks related to data engineering, integrations, analytics, and governance.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends in data engineering and solutions to drive continuous improvement, evaluate new tools, and enhance CCS' capabilities
  • Lead a team of highly skilled leaders, technical managers, engineers, specialist, and analysts to deliver services and solutions to meet the needs of the organization; Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning within the data team.
  • Evaluate and manage relationships with third-party data-related vendors, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and standards.
  • Support the creation of department and project budgets, managing relevant billing, development of scope of work, and monitor budgets.
  • Foster a working environment that highlights the talents and strengths of each team member.
  • Ensure that hiring practices are inclusive.

  • 2.Data Architecture, Engineering and Integration

  • Design and execute an integration strategy, collaborating with business units to understand requirements, ensure seamless interoperability, enhanced efficiency, and agility.
  • Lead the development and maintenance of infrastructure and solutions to integration and connect systems
  • Ensure the maintenance of integration standards and practices, and automation of processes to meet the needs of CCS.
  • Oversee the design, development, and support of integrated, secure, scalable, performant, reliable, and robust data solutions, including but not limited to data warehouse, data lake, data pipelines, ETL, analytics/BI, workflow automation, data governance, and related solutions aligned with high-level organization objectives and priorities.
  • Lead the design, development, and management of data architecture and models through all areas of data governance and solutions.
  • Ensure the maintenance of documentation for databases, pipelines, processes, including their architecture, configuration, security, backup and recovery, and data governance
  • 3.Data Analytics and Marketing

  • Lead the development of a comprehensive analytics strategy, aligning with business objectives.
  • Drive the implementation of advanced analytics and business intelligence tools and solutions to provide actionable insights.
  • Ensure the design and implementation of all BI project and services, ensuring that these solutions align with the organization's strategic direction and technology standards
  • Oversee the delivery of advanced analytics (e.g. predictive, prescriptive, etc.), AI and machine learning capabilities, providing actionable insights and recommendations to support business decision making, identify opportunities and optimization of programs, services, and products.
  • Foster a data-driven culture by promoting the use of analytics for decision-making across the organization, ensuring the availability of useful and actionable data to business decision makers.
  • Lead collaboration with DS&T and business stakeholders to define and prioritize data and analytics requirements for solutions and services.
  • Prioritise and deliver ad-hoc analysis on various marketing or strategic initiatives as necessary
  • Evaluate, recommend, implement, and maintain reporting and analytical tools
  • Ensure the management and delivery of marketing data support, including lists used for omni-channel communications, analytics projects, validating data sources, segmentation, and QA of generated lists
  • QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, information systems, or related course of study required
  • Proven experience (8+ years) in data governance, data engineering, integrations, analytics, and business intelligence roles. 5+ years in leadership roles managing a team of data SMEs
  • Excellent leadership, analytical and communication skills, a calm manner and the ability to work with staff, at all levels of seniority, across the organization
  • In-depth knowledge of data governance frameworks, data management best practices, and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong understanding of business intelligence concepts including data analysis, data mining with experience in applying these concepts in data warehouse environments
  • Experience developing a BI and Analytics strategy and requirements, including demonstrated success working with senior executives to deliver actionable business intelligence, and solid understanding of visualizing data.
  • Advanced proficiency with SQL Services (SSIS, SSRS, SSAS), ETL, pipelines, data integration platforms, data warehouse development lifecycle, from gathering requirements to testing, implementation, and support
  • Demonstrable expertise in list management and translating business needs into meaningful tactics and actions as they relate to data
  • Extensive knowledge of data architecture, database design, data model and data warehouse design considerations
  • Experience implementing solutions using advanced visualization tools and applications (e.g. Power BI, Adaptive Insights, Tableau, Qlikview, Cognos, Microstrategy etc.)
  • Experience working with CRM databases including Salesforce, MS Dynamics CRM, and Raiser's Edge and working with marketing and digital technologies will be an asset
  • Non-profit industry experience an asset
  • Strong understanding of SDLC and a passion to move the team towards a more process oriented environment
  • Must have keen ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with shifting priorities
  • Demonstrated ability with strong teamwork & attention to detail
  • Office environment with occasional requirements to work outside of regular office hours
