Position Description:

The Office Manager is an integrated and critical role in the Brookfield Sustainability Institute (BSI) at GBC.

The Office Manager will liaison between the three operating units of the BSI (Global Solutions Studio, Academics, Observatory) ensuring that student and vendor contracts and payments are maintained and completed.

The Office manager will also help build BSI office culture by organizing, planning, and managing events and event expenses. Finally, the Office manager will be the administration for the BSI departments calendar and outbound newsletter.


Key responsibilities:


  • Manages BSI
  • CEO's calendar.
  • Coordinates office procedures and ensures efficient daytoday operations.
  • Onboards new hires, to our processes, tools, and culture.
  • Works with BSI managers, operations, legal and accounting to manage and complete all employee, student and vendor contracts and payments.
  • Supervises student hires within the BSI as well as manages their contracts, weekly hours, and manages pay.
  • Budgets, develops contracts, and arranges payments, organizes meetings for three Directors
  • Business Development, Global Solutions Studio and Curriculum Development and Training.
  • Leads the organization of all hand's meetings and internal BSI corporate meetings and staff events.
  • Supports operations of client and college events (Charrettes) including ordering services procuring vendors & event staff, managing event expenses.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Educational and Experience Requirements:


  • Three
- or four-year degree or diploma from an accredited post-secondary institution.

  • Minimum two to five (5) years of relevant work experience in office management.

Skills and Attributes:


  • Excellent organization, time management, and coordination skills.
  • Solid project management, relationship management, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Able to travel between campuses and for site visits.
  • Broad leadership skills managing a diverse team of experienced individuals.
  • Demonstrated communication, collaboration, teamwork, and interpersonal skills at a professional level.
  • Demonstrated commitment to uphold the College's priorities on diversity and equity.

Interview process may consist of a practical skills component.
