JOB INFORMATION:


  • This posting is for opportunities which may involve working various shifts/off days and various work reporting locations, which may vary as directed by work assignments

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:


  • Safely and efficiently operating specialized and nonspecialized work vehicles (specific to the tunnel leak/tunnel liner and structure repair and maintenance program) such as, but not limited to vacuum cars, flush cars, special purpose crane cars, flat cars, locomotives, etc.
  • Operating work vehicles for the delivery of tools, materials and equipment to work sites
  • Operating cranes/vacuums, loading and unloading cargo, and pushing and pulling nonpowered cars
  • Performing daily safety service checks on vehicles
  • Responsible for treating passengers and/or employees with respect and dignity and ensuring the needs of passengers or employees with disabilities are accommodated and/or addressed (if applicable and within their area of responsibility) in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders so that they can fully benefit from the TTC as a serviceprovider and an employer
  • Demonstrates behaviours that support diversity, inclusion, and a respectful work and service environment that is free from discrimination and harassment. Helps to remove barriers and accommodate employees and customers (within their area of responsibility) in accordance with TTC's commitments and obligations under the Ontario Human Rights Code (OHRC) and Related Orders, the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), and TTC's policies.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:


  • Completion of a Grade 12 education or its recognized equivalent as determined by the Training Department
  • Practical experience and knowledge of concrete and structural steel repairs involving abrasive blast cleaning, placement of reinforcing steel, and the use of concrete materials that would normally be acquired through approximately 12 months of structural concrete repair experience
  • Comprehend verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to speak clearly in order to exchange information and instructions with Control Centres
  • A valid nonprobationary class "G" or better, Province of Ontario Driver's Licence
  • Pass a vision test and a pretest set by the Training Department
  • Must have or rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees
