    What the position involves?

    • Perform engineering calculations using empirical formulas from Classification Regulations as well as first principles.
    • Conduct HVAC calculations following industry standards and recognized marine criteria.
    • Prepare mechanical/diagrammatic drawing packages for submission to Classification Societies.
    • Develop propulsion driveline/shafting arrangements with relevant analysis using recognized software.
    • Apply marine engineering knowledge and systems expertise to ensure equipment functionality for vessels.
    • Provide practical technical input to specifications and drawings.
    • Conduct engineering studies, technical evaluations, and various analyses/studies.
    • Possess report writing skills at a developed, but not advanced, level.
    • Have a working knowledge of Classification Society Rules and Flag State Regulations.
    • Take on certain technical tasks within larger projects, and may act as a Project Manager or Second In Command on smaller projects.
    • Demonstrate awareness of project management aspects such as establishing working budgets, meeting deadlines, tracking & analyzing budgets, and coordinating project schedules.
    • Be willing to mentor and coach junior staff members.
    • Engage in a collaborative team environment both within and across offices.
    • Be open to joining functional groups within the company (e.g., technical groups, quality assurance, etc.)
    • Communicate clearly and complete work within set budgets and deadlines.

    What will you need to succeed?

    • Hold at least a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related engineering field.
    • Typically possess five to ten years of industry experience post-graduation.
    • Maintain a good working knowledge of essential computer software programs required to meet Position Objectives (e.g., MS Office products, AutoCAD, etc.)
    • Demonstrate overall competency in Applied, Working, or Developed levels in the respective discipline.
    • Possess a Professional Engineer Designation, which is highly preferred, and the ability to obtain the designation is necessary.
