General Accountability:


  • Delivers and evaluates transportation/maintenance related training programs to employees, contractors, consultants, etc. Works with others to develop new programs and to review and update existing programs.

Key Job Functions:


  • Educate staff through training programs and monitor and evaluate performance.
  • Provide assistance or help in the coordination, development, or delivery of the Section's initiatives.
  • Create and update materials and resources; store and disseminate appropriately.
  • Plan, schedule, facilitate, and/or organize a program, event, or tasks needed to achieve an outcome.
  • Review, analyze submissions, documents, qualifications or other materials, approve or deny requests.
  • Ensure that work is performed in safe and efficient manner which complies with regulations, policies, and organizational procedures.
  • Demonstrate behaviours that support diversity, inclusion, and a respectful work and service environment that is free from discrimination and harassment. Help to remove barriers and accommodate employees and customers (within their area of responsibility) in accordance with TTC's commitments and obligations under the Ontario Human Rights Code (OHRC) and Related Orders, the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), and TTC's policies.

  • Train and instruct individuals and / or groups
  • Communicate in a variety of mediums

Education and Experience:


  • Completion of a postsecondary college diploma or university degree in a related discipline or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent.
  • Must have or be able to obtain an Adult Teaching Certificate at a university/community college in Training and Development, or the equivalent, within 3 years.

Additional Requirements:


  • Must have Supervisor experience along with a minimum of 3 years of directly related experience as a qualified Streetcar / Subway Operator.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Rail Operating Rules and Regulations, procedures and practices for Revenue/Non-Revenue vehicles.
  • Must possess a valid Class G Driver's Licence and have or obtain specific accreditation to certify and/or license employees through the delivery of regulated training programs.
  • Sound knowledge of pertinent policies, government legislation, Subway/SRT/Surface Rule Book Regulations and union agreements.
  • Thorough knowledge of, and the ability to apply, adult education principles, instruction, assessment, testing and evaluation techniques, research methods, and program design and development methodologies.
  • Ability to effectively deliver a comprehensive range of training programs to diverse groups in the classroom, at actual work locations, to large and small groups, and on a oneonone basis as well as the ability to read, comprehend and explain complex concepts, technical information and maintenance procedures.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication, organizational, analytical, interpersonal, group facilitation, coaching and leadership skills.
