POSITION BACKGROUND:
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Payroll Clerk to join our Payroll Team.
Reporting to the Payroll Lead, the incumbent's primary role is to perform payroll administration duties including ensuring that employees are paid according to schedule and labour standards.
This role will also support the HR team and is geared towards a detail-oriented individual with demonstrated interpersonal and customer service skills.
CORE DUTIES:
Payroll Administration
- Assist processing payroll, including updating employee numbers, hours, garnishments, etc.
- Checking daily job control sheets to ensure all employees are accounted for
- Maintain employee payroll files, including wage, vacation rate, and banking information
- Enter biweekly payroll information into Payworks
- Complete Record of Employment (ROE) for terminated, laid off, ill, and employees on a leave of absence
- Assist preparing, balancing, and auditing payroll reports, ensuring balance with bank statements
- Cross reference fuel slips and travel DJCS inputs
- Timeoff request administration
- Assisting with expense management
- HR administration and support when required
- Successfully complete safety training as required on an ongoing basis
- Represent Ketek in a light that is commensurate with the values of Management and the Corporate Vision and Mission Statements

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
Required
- Minimum 2 years experience in accounting, payroll, or similar
- Fluent in the English language (reading, written, spoken)
- Ability to deal with the public in a positive, courteous, and respectful manner
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and frequent demanding deadlines
- Strong work ethic and organizational planning skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Ability to discreetly handle confidential information
- Effective verbal and listening communication skills
- Postsecondary education in related field
- Canadian Payroll Association (CPA) certification
- Familiarity with British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan employment standards as it relates to payroll
- Familiarity with Federal Employment Standards
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to stand/sit, talk/hear, use hands/fingers to operate a computer and telephone, stoop, and kneel
- Prolonged exposure to computer screens
- Office environment (100%)
- May be required to work weekends and outside of regular office hours
