Project controls is responsible for project metrics such as time, cost, and resources as well as project revenue and cash flow.
This position encompasses the people, processes and tools used to plan, manage and mitigate cost and schedule issues and risks that may impact a project.
We currently have an opportunity for a highly motivated Project Controller to join our southern Alberta Community Development group.
We seek an individual with demonstrated experience in project controls and/or coordination related work including knowledge of project management processes and project life cycles.
The successful candidate will possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, is detail-oriented, has excellent computer software skills and enjoys working in a supportive team environment.
As a Project Controller, you must be flexible, supportive, proactive, and attentive to detail as well as have the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and interruptions in order to meet and balance deadlines.
You will be able to analyze information and provide timely standard and customized cost control reports. The successful candidate will be working with an experienced project controller that will provide mentorship and support.Setup and maintain cost controls from project initiation to close out.
Routinely provide standardized, accurate cost reports for project managers.
Monitor project budgets and facilitate change management processes as required.
Understand and provide support to develop Work Breakdown Structures for project execution and monitoring.
Validate source data and ensure integrity of processes affecting project success such as project coding, budget allocation, A/R & A/P project related activity.
Support invoicing while ensuring compliance to project contractual terms and conditions utilizing the Project AccountantBuild and maintain effective relationships with Project Managers.
Work within a team of project controllers, being willing shift duties to maintain work load balance amongst the team.
Perform financial reconciliations.Administrate the use of Oracle Financial systems (or similar) and in-house project management software (IPS/IPM) in the areas such as budget/cost control and reporting.
Perform project audits, as required.Understanding of the project management life cycle and project controls processes and procedures.
Knowledge of Earned Value and cost-based project management.
Proven ability to work under pressure, to prioritize, to multi-task and manage client expectations.
Proficient user in MS Excel and MS Word.
Degree or diploma in business, economics, engineering, or related field.
~1 – 3 years of related work experience
~ Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) is an asset
