    Our Canadian and International clients include: global banks and non-bank financial institutions, private equity and investment funds, professional service firms, and entrepreneurial businesses in a variety of industries.

    Our client is the Canadian Branch of a full-stack global bank. The group has more than 130 offices spread across 40 offices worldwide. The North American division offers commercial and investment banking services to its corporate and institutional clients. We have partnered with the bank to work on a net new role, Vice President, Enterprise Risk Management.

    The Vice President, Credit Portfolio Risk will be responsible for working with the Chief Risk Officer to create and maintain credit loss and financial risk forecasting models.

    Incorporating credit loss models, they will create a credit rating system based on different gradations of risk for loss or default and evaluate loans and positions against those criteria.

    The successful candidate will calculate expected losses and evaluate the losses across a number of elements and recommend risk reduction strategies to the bank.

    This role will require ability/leadership to work across several Risk areas, manage multiple deadlines and interact with internal and external stakeholders.

    Create and maintain credit loss and financial risk forecasting models taking into account different risks of potential loss/default, including interest/pricing, client/industry, FX/location/sovereign risks, settlement/transfer risk, diversification/exposure, deal structure/collateral, client payment history/capacity/leverage, concentrations/correlations, liquidity/market.

    Incorporating credit loss models, create credit rating system based on different gradations of risk for loss/default and evaluate loans/positions against those criteria.

    Evaluate losses across a number of elements (client, industry, credit type, etc.) and recommend risk reduction strategies including syndication, sale, hedging, etc.

    Stress test models against a number of different scenarios to evaluate reasonableness of loss charges and inform capital adequacy testing.

    Recommend changes to underwriting and credit evaluation policies and procedures.

    Work closely with industry specialists, country risk managers, credit review/analysis staff and relationship managers to determine and evaluate potential risks.

    Broaden your market perspective and understand emerging risks through collaborations with market counterparties.
    Improve workflows and data gathering/sharing through partnerships with units such as finance, compliance, legal and IT.
    Support long- and short-term planning, new product development, ALM and risk management meetings.

    Network within the industry through meetings, events and involvement with trade organizations to better understand emerging risk trends and credit products.

    Display an advanced understanding of credit markets and risk analysis to create models, risk ratings, loss estimates and risk management strategies.

    Demonstrate a working knowledge of credit structuring. Stay abreast of product trends in order to hedge, syndicate and sell credit positions.
    Use knowledge of finance and accounting to help quantify outcomes for transactions and positions. Combine with credit knowledge to maximize risk-adjusted returns on the portfolio.
    Apply advanced modeling and analytical skills to create meaningful measurement and reporting on key risk exposures.

    Demonstrate a solid understanding of information technology and project management, in order to best partner with colleagues in data gathering and monitoring.

    Communicate analytical data effectively.

    Working towards a professional designation such as FRM, CPA, CIA or CFA would be an asset.
    ~5-8 years' experience in commercial banking, advisory – risk management, other financial services or professional services, as a risk manager / senior manager.
    ~ Practical knowledge of leading industry practices related to Financial Risk management in financial institutions including credit, market, operational and other key risks.
    ~ Sound, practical knowledge of credit risk and portfolio management strategies; foreign exchange trading, derivative products and money markets, and stress testing.
    ~ Knowledge and understanding of applicable regulatory requirements, expectations and business impacts.
    ~ Result-oriented and attention to details including excellent command of written and spoken English.
