All Saints' Westboro (ASW) is seeking a part-time Coordinator of Children & Youth Ministries.

Children and Youth Ministry is a central and highly valued aspect of our church community to support our engaged and active group of children, youth and families.

We are interested in finding an involved and organized person who is comfortable with Children (age to 11) and Youth This person must be a good communicator and skilled in working with, and recruiting, adult volunteers.

The Coordinator needs to broadly understand and be comfortable with the Anglican faith.

There is an expectation that the Coordinator will regularly attend the 9:30 am Sunday service, and when needed, fill in as a teacher in the Church School.


Position Overview:


The Coordinator is responsible for children and youth ministry including developing curriculum, preparing resource kits, recruiting and supporting a volunteer team and organizing special events.

The Coordinator reports to a two-person clergy team.


Roles and Responsibilities:


  • Program coordination:_
  • Provides oversight, support and leadership of children and youth ministry volunteers.
  • Recruits, assesses, orients and places new volunteers into appropriate roles.
  • Ensures all policies and procedures related to volunteers who work with children are understood. Works with the Parish Administrator to fulfill Safe Church requirements for parish volunteers. Ensures consistency in practice and coaches volunteers on appropriate and acceptable behaviour in alignment with the standards and expectations of _The Anglican Church of Canada._
  • Trains new volunteers on their specific duties by reviewing the job description and sharing expectations for behaviour and performance.
  • Schedules volunteers for worship services, Church School and special events.
  • If necessary, takes on a teaching role. The Coordinator is expected to engage in all activities excepting vacation or sick days. In such a case, the Coordinator should arrange for a substitute.
  • Communications:_
  • Communicates regularly with volunteers, families, church staff, the Parish and the broader community.
  • Designs and maintains bulletin boards in the church building, and prepares published announcements as required.
  • Writes articles for the parish newsletter about Child & Youth events and initiatives.
  • Baptism, Confirmation,

Altar Servers:
_

  • Acts as family liaison for baptism and confirmation preparation.
  • Recruits, trains and organizes Altar Servers (grades 5 and up).
  • Other Expectations:_
  • Attends Tuesday morning staff meetings/morning prayer.
  • Performs other duties as required/directed by the clergy team. There will be a need to provide administrative support in the Parish Office from time to time.

Skills, experience required:


  • Experience working with children and youth.
  • Experience working with volunteers.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Knowledge of the Anglican Church of Canada.

Average hours of work: 20 hours/week

$20 per hour (also negotiable)
