    Reporting to the Manager, Early Childhood Resources (Manager), the Early Childhood Resources Coordinator (Coordinator) is responsible for developing culturally appropriate resources, materials to support early childhood development in Nunavut under the guidance and direction of the Manager. It is the responsibility to incorporate the input received from the Early Childhood Development unit, other departmental staff, the community, the District Education Authority's (DEA) into the design/redesign of resources, services, programs in order to better meet the needs of children, parents, Elders and childcare facility operators and the interests of the Public, DEA's and the Government of Nunavut.

    This position supports staff, facility operators, and others as appropriate to ensure successful implementation of resources, materials, programs, etc. Further to that, the Coordinator monitors, gathers data, and ultimately evaluates the impact of resources, materials, programs as a way of assisting the Division to bridge gaps, meet needs, and contribute to building academic excellence in children. The Coordinator also supports the Early Childhood Development unit with the development and delivery of training for licensed centre staff. This position carries-out this work under the legal requirements of the Inuit Language Protection Act and the Child Day Care Act in Nunavut. His/her work is also consistent with Departmental philosophies, values, beliefs, and the foundations of Nunavut schooling. The Coordinator also supports the administration of contribution agreements.

    The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through a recognized degree in Arts, Education, Social Sciences or similar related field, plus one (1) year of experience working in a licensed centre. A recognized degree in Arts, Education, Social Sciences with a focus on Early Childhood Education would be considered an asset. This is a Highly Sensitive Position and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, along with a clear Vulnerable Sector Check is required.

    The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Fluency in more than one of Nunavut's official languages would be considered an asset. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.
