    The role supports Temple Insurance, a wholly-owned P&C carrier, which was established to strategically complement Munich Re operations in Canada.

    Temple Insurance, as a Canadian licensed insurance carrier, enables business units across the Munich Re Group to write direct P&C business in Canada.

    We're looking for our next Senior Property Underwriter.

    Under the direction of the AVP, Corporate Underwriting of Temple Insurance, the Senior Property Underwriter is responsible for the marketing and underwriting of corporate property insurance, including operational power, energy & mining.

    This role is based out of our Toronto office.

    Independently underwrite and price moderate to highly complex business in accordance with corporate, divisional and department guidelines and philosophy.


    • Underwrite new and renewal business, including all tasks associated with risk and coverage analysis and pricing, and provide recommendations for proposed terms within delegated underwriting authority.
    • Review primary policy, contract and endorsement wording and ensure accuracy and conformance with guidelines
    • Demonstrate and maintain enhanced technical product and underwriting expertise.
    • Lead departmental projects related to the development and implementation of underwriting strategy.
    • Demonstrate proficiency in the use of pricing models, tools and other risk evaluation models
    • Participate in peer reviews of team members' accounts
    So are YOU our next Specialist, Casualty, Commercial Underwriting? CIP/FCIP/CRM designation or progression towards would be an asset.


    • 5 to 7 years of experience underwriting property insurance, preferably including construction, operational power, energy & mining.
    • Prior experience with operational power, heavy manufacturing, energy, mining, construction and civil projects would be considered an asset.
    • Solid grasp of commercial insurance products combined with good knowledge of the insurance industry.
    • Strong collaboration and team building skills.
    • Strong computer ability, specifically with MS Office Products
