- Inspection diagnosis and repair of trailers through preventative and scheduled maintenance, trailer frames electrical systems; landing gear assemblies and trailer bodies; suspensions systems; tires; wheels; hubs and axles; air and auxiliary systems; braking systems; heating and refrigeration systems; roof repairs; hitching/coupling systems; as well as ventilation devices.
- Thoroughly inspecting trailer mechanisms, ensuring that the trailer is safe and reliable for operations.
- Preventative maintenance on trailer and mechanical parts.
- Testing and adjusting repaired systems to manufacturer's performance specifications.
- Troubleshooting and able to look at mechanical, electrical systems, identify problems, and think about and perform possible solutions.
- Familiar with electronics, and able to read blueprints, or use electronic diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot repairs.
- Effectively communicate with supervisor on work performed, general vehicle condition, and future repair requirements.
- Contribute to the maintenance of a clean and safe facility, following company safety policies and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) guidelines.
- Complete detailed inspection reports to record problems and work performed.
- Ability to perform repairs in different environmental settings, such as in repair shop or outside in the yard.
- Ensure maintenance and repairs are completed in a timely manner.
- Legally authorized to work in Canada.
- Must be safety conscious.
- Commercial vehicle inspection license preferred.
- Must have own tools.
- Must follow direction.
- Must be a team player, with a positive attitude.
- Must have basic computer skills.
- Ability to refer to manuals for spare parts and diagnostics.
- Ability to operate a heavy duty service vehicle.
- Experience with repair and maintenance of large mobile equipment, shunt trucks, and fleet vehicles.
- Experience with mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic troubleshooting and repairs.
- Experience completing preventive maintenance, and scheduled repairs.
- Experience completing handwritten repair orders.
- Valid drivers license, with clean drivers abstract.
- Willing and able to work both indoors and outdoors.
- Ability to work weekends would be considered an asset.
