    Wood has a potential opportunity for a Senior Civil Engineer to join our Mining & Minerals business group. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this position is located at our Vancouver, BC office. This role has overall responsibility for delivering Civil Engineering services on our major projects.

    Lead work groups or project teams
    # Lead civil engineering design and technical support for the construction and modification of mining and industrial facilities and services, including calculations, design drawing review as well as field investigations
    # Prepare proposals, feasibility studies, preliminary design, engineering specifications, and contract documents
    # Review project documents prior to issue for scope and presentation, including checking for technical quality and accuracy
    # Lead and mentor junior staff
    # Coordinate and work with project team members

    Undergraduate or Graduate Degree in Civil Engineering with eligibility to register as a Professional Engineer with EGBC
    A minimum of 10 years experience in civil engineering design within mining, energy and/or industrial projects of varying stages from conceptual to detailed design
    Solid experience in site development, and pipe and open channel hydraulics
    Tailings / slurry piping design experience is an asset
    Experience in storm water management, stormwater runoff calculations, sizing the ditches, culverts and ponds
    Good understanding of various coordinate systems and survey controls
    Experience in interpreting and applying geotechnical design recommendations on civil designs
    Capable of developing creative yet practical concepts
    Experience in writing technical reports, specifications and in preparing the material take-offs
    Experience in technical evaluations of construction contracts and material / equipment supply contracts
    Excellent organizational, technical, communication and computer skills
    Knowledge of general civil designs and an understanding of industry codes, standards and construction methods
    Must be legally authorized to work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood
