- Complete preliminary student assessment as required including but not limited to reason of visit, height, weight, vitals, and manage students flow in examination rooms.
- Assess students' needs and documents (i.e., charting) all medical information provided and informs physicians of specific situations.
- Ensure that required nursing care is delivered to meet the specific needs of the student.
- Monitor, assess, address, document and report symptoms and changes in students' conditions.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by a physician and according to established policies and protocols within their scope of practice.
- Provide basic laboratory and phlebotomy procedures and treatment services (e.g., tests, glucometer readings, dressings, injections, immunizations, allergy treatments, etc.).
- Ensure infection control and occupational health and safety standards are followed.
- Ensure that exam areas are disinfected and stocked with medical, and laboratory supplies as needed.
- Provide education to students and their families on health-related issues in collaboration with other health care providers.
- Collaborate with members of an interdisciplinary health team to plan, implement, coordinate and evaluate student care in consultation with students.
- Assist in surgical and other medical procedures within their scope of practice.
- Maintain confidentiality and its application to students' electronic health records.
- Other duties as assigned within RPN scope of practice.
- Successful completion of Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) Diploma (Registered Nurse (RN) would be an asset).
- Valid certificate of registration/licensing in the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- At least three (3) years' experiences in a primary health care environment.
- Valid certification for CPR and AED
- Previous experience with EMRs (i.e. Telus PS suite, OSCAR, Purkinje)
- Sound knowledge of nursing processes and professional responsibilities
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to work both effectively as a member of a team and independently
- Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organization, time management, and prioritizing
- Ability to work under pressure and to handle difficult situations with professionalism
- Demonstrated ability to respect diversity and use inclusive behavior, responding with sensitivity and self-awareness to the unique needs of students, including visible and non-visible dimensions of diversity.
- General knowledge of computer software applications including word processing and mail applications (e.g.: Word, Outlook)
- Fluency in both French and English, read, written, spoken (other languages an asset)

Position purpose
Delivers professional medical services in a clinical care setting by evaluating students' needs and assure that required nursing care is delivered as guided by the College of Nurses of Ontario and according to the policies and procedures of the University.
Triages operational tasks and offers direct nursing care to students, delivers health education information, and provides consultative services regarding issues relevant to students.
