Grand Erie's 2800 employees provide quality education to approximately 26,000 full-time equivalent students who attend our 72 schools. The Board spans a geographic area encompassing the City of Brantford and the Counties of Brant, Haldimand and Norfolk. The head office is located in Brantford.


The Board requires qualified casual employees to be available, often on short notice, to replace permanent early childhood educators (ECEs) during their absences.

The greatest need currently is the Haldimand and Norfolk areas. Applicants must have regular availability to accept assignments.


Casual ECEs must be a graduate of an ECE program at a community college and a member in good standing with the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators.

Experience with primary-aged students and/or an early learning or registered childcare setting is required. Knowledge of the early acquisition of literacy and numeracy skills an asset.


Duties include working collaboratively with the kindergarten teacher to plan and implement the Early Learning Kindergarten program, supervise students and assist children with washroom routines, dressing and break time activities.


Job Specifications

Hours of Work

  • Usually half (3.5 hours) and full (7 hour) days on an 'as needed' basis. Number of hours per week may vary, dependent on need.
    Rate of Pay
- $21.02 per hour plus 4% vacation pay
