Position Overview
Spark is currently recruiting for a
part-time, contract (6 month maternity leave cover) Assistant, Human
Resources to join our Human Resources team. The Assistant, Human Resources is responsible for
assisting and supporting all the Human Resources, payroll and benefits administrative duties within
Spark. The Assistant, Human Resources works closely with the Coordinator, Payroll and Benefits and the
Manager, Human Resources to support all administrative duties within the Human Resources team. The
Assistant, Human resources reports directly to the Manager, Human Resources.
The Assistant, Human

Resources will be working 4 days per week mainly in office with an opportunity to work remote once

established in the role.
*Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Human Resources functions including but not limited to:
  • Recruitment:
  • Conduct prescreen interviews.
  • Assist with in person interviews when needed.
  • Schedule Interviews.
  • Conduct reference checks and police checks
  • Onboard new hires.
  • Attend careers fairs on a regular basis.
  • Onboarding:
  • Draft onboarding paperwork for new hires.
  • Set up face scanner enrollments.
  • Create name and desk tags.
  • Prepare desks for new hire arrivals.
  • Add new staff to Spark's Workplace platform
  • Create and order Business cards
  • General:
  • Maintain employee files including filing.
  • Write and review employee letters as required.
2Support any required Human Resources or payroll reporting.

  • Document HR, payroll and benefits administration processes.
  • Post Workplace updates such as new hires and work anniversaries
  • Maintain files on the Knowledge Library.
  • Support Spark's 5 year Roadmap by participating in a culture of consistent upgrading focused on
exceeding guest expectations.

  • Work closely and collaboratively across departments to meet objectives, creatively solve issues,
anticipate challenges and respond to opportunities.

  • Maintains employee confidence and protects operations by keeping human resource and
finance information confidential.

  • Keep uptodate with the latest HR trends and best practice.
  • Other duties as assigned.
*Qualifications and experience
At least 6 months of Human Resources and/or recruitment experience.

  • Previous experience with payroll systems is advantageous.
  • Previous experience with recruitment highly advantageous.
  • Demonstrated passion for customer service and administration.
  • Energetic selfstarter, with the ability to adapt quickly, readily learn new skills, and work
confidently without supervision showing consistent initiative.

  • Works well under pressure and meets tight deadlines.
  • Confidence to work independently and with a team.
  • Superb written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent multitasking abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft office tools and products.
  • Strong ethics and ability to manage confidential data.
  • A proven track record of adding value to an organization's culture and initiatives.
  • A positive attitude
  • Desire to work on a high performing team with a continuous upgrading culture to achieve high
impact results. Fluidity and a desire to work hard and grow are essential.
