Position Summary
We are looking for aTechnical Specialistwith health careandDevOpsexperience to join ourUniversity Health Network (UHN)CollaborativeCentreforArtificial Intelligence(AI) and Data Scienceto work with the cancer program. The UHN AI Hub brings together scientistsand clinicians from across UHN workingtodevelop and implement safe and responsibleapplications of AI to improve healthcare.This role involvesworking in close collaboration with care providers,researchersand studentstobuilddeepexpertiseandsupport theMLOpsofadvance novel applications of artificial intelligence methodstofacilitateresearch and translation into clinicalpractice.

TheTechnicalSpecialistwilldesign and develop highly sophisticated MLpipelines,deploymentplatforms and methodologies to support high priority initiativeswithcutting edgeAI technology within the UHN network. TheTechnicalSpecialistworks closely with theChief AI Scientistand team toapplyMLOpsmethods to solve complex health related questions, improve hospital efficiency and develop new research hypotheses. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited todeploying,managingandoptimizingmachine learning models in productionenvironments to ensure smooth integration and efficient operations.TheTechnicalSpecialistwillcollaborate withoncologyclinicians and scientists tobuild datapipelines and securely deploy responsible AI.TheTechnicalSpecialistwillpossessstrong technicalproficiency, creativity, and strong collaborative skills to contribute towards furthering AIcapacityand innovationwithin UHN.

Duties

Data Processing andPipelines :Creating and building robust data pipelines for AI.Working with large datasets ofoncologydata. This involves preprocessing, cleaning, and organizing data fordata pipelinesand AI integration.

Model Implementationand Management : Develop anddeployAI models in a clinical environment. This could includecreatingnew data pipelines and integrating AI models into existing clinical systems and processes. Set up monitoring tools tomonitorAI performance andtrack various metrics such as response time,errorsand resourceutilization.

Algorithm Optimization :Work withdata science specialists to fine-tune algorithms fordeployment.

Collaborative Research : Work closely with biologists and clinicians to understand their data needs and translate these into computational tasks.

Publishing and Documentation : Regularly document your findings and methodologies. Publish in peer-reviewed journals and present at conferences.

Grant Writing :Assistin writing grant proposals for funding research projects.

Mentoring and Supervision : Guide junior researchers or students in their projects, providingexpertiseinoncologydata analysis.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree,graduatewould be an asset,inengineering,computer science, or related disciplines.
• Minimum5years related experiencerequired.
• Excellent communication skills and ability toutilizea collaborative approach to solving challenging problems.
• Experience withMLOps,enterprise applicationdevelopment,implementingandmaintainingMLand NLPmodels, IT administration and support.
• Experience with Python (scikit-learn, Pandas, etc.) and deep learning frameworks (TensorFlow orPyTorch)
• Experience with healthcare data types, topics, and scientific challenges and approaches.
• Familiarity with HPC environment and running applications in HPC clusters.
• Demonstrate ability to mentor others and work collaboratively with clinicians.
