    The expected salary range for this role is CAD $ 145, ,300 . This range is tied to the British Columbia market for jobs performed in British Columbia. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience. The salary offer will not be based on a candidate's pay history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about pay history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.

    Purpose


    Develop a comprehensive Labour Relations and Employee Experience strategy that enables productive workplace relations and enhances direct employee engagement that is honest, respectful, equitable and fair.

    Essential Duties


    Growth Strategy/Governance:

    • Prepare strategic Labour Relations & Employee Experience Plans across the Region.
    • Review and enhance policies and procedures in accordance with business requirements and legislative requirements that further promote fair and equitable employee relations and business decisions.
    • Develop Labour Relations scenario plan that includes consideration of risk options including, operational needs, framework for collective negotiations and stakeholder analysis.
    • Ensure Employee Relations practices are compliant with industrial instruments, legislation and regulations and Newmont's broader strategies.

    Operations Excellence:

    • Provide commercially focused advice within a labour relations framework
    • Support operational leadership in resolving union and employee grievances, disputes, and conflicts, promptly and impartially.
    • Support achievement of IBCA commitment through integrated labour and employee relations programs and objectives.

    Safety & Sustainability:

    • Partnering with key stakeholders, building a Business Unit labour relations and employee experience strategy (in conjunction with the global strategy) and implement a plan to drive a psychosocial hazard safe workplace culture, where diversity and inclusion flourishes.
    • Partnering with external relations and sustainability functions to integrate labour relations strategy with indigenous peoples strategy

    People:

    • Identify and drive philosophies and programs to foster constructive union and employee relations; ensuring supporting the organizations' approach to its employees is fair, respectful, and consistent.
    • Provide technical expertise, supporting the People organization and Business leaders in managing complex union and employment relations matters.
    • Address complex union and employee grievances, disputes, and conflicts in a prompt and impartial manner.
    • With the BU or external Legal Counsel, appropriately represent the Company in litigation proceedings.
    • Support and develop leader capability including through the design and implementation of training sessions and interventions to meet employee needs and business objectives.
    • Provide advice and interpretation on employment instruments and legislation.
    • Input into the development and implementation of diversity, equity, and inclusion programs.

    Commercial:

    • Develop the Business Unit Labour Relations and Employee Experience programs and input into operating budgets, including labor and associated costs, and forecasted movements in these.

    Training & Experience


    Knowledge

    • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Labour Relations, or related field.
    • Principles and practices of Canadian employee and labour relations.
    • Current labour relations issues and the regulatory frameworks
    • Grievance and conflict procedures

    Technical Skills:

    • Advanced level of proficiency in developing and implementing programs that measurably impact positive union and employee relations.
    • Advanced level of proficiency managing investigations, performance issues, cases, disputes, and grievances in a large organization.
    • Advanced level of proficiency in negotiating enterprise/collective agreements, facilitating workshops related to improving LR/ER processes and practices and effectively communicating ideas and resolutions.
    • Competent level of proficiency in training and coaching leaders in navigating union and employment relations matters.
    • Advanced proficiency in ability to provide high quality, consistent advice on all union and employee relations matters.
