Masked Prey (2 out of 2 Spuds) Masked Prey is the umpteenth book in one of the best cop series in modern fiction. Over the course of these novels we follow the exploits of Lucas Davenport, a minor league millionaire who be- came a cop, then police chief, then head of some- thing called the Minnesota Bureau of Apprehen- ship then a US Marshall, which he is in this book. In Masked Prey, Lucas is brought into Washing- ton to get to the bottom of a weird web site that appears to be targeting kids of politicians, and setting them up for assassination They bring in Lucas because, at his core, he is a hunter, and that's what he does best. This story explores the nature of the right wing and alt- right movements in the US, and points out just how scary some of these people are. The Prey series is filled with great characters and storylines that are quitessentially American. It has also morphed into series about Virgil Flowers, a more rural version of Lucas, and a hacker named Kidd.
