A Rare Network TV Review

WILL TRENT 2 SPUDS (ABC Tuesday at 10 PM) I don’t watch a whole lot of network TV, mainly because most of it sucks. But | do still watch Blue Bloods and Jeopardy, and this week | recorded a new cop show called Will Trent. This is all about a dyslexic detective who appears to be hated by all the other cops for some reason but who has an amazing brain that lets him see things about the crimes he investigates that other cops miss. This reminded me a bit of the Tony Shaloub series called Monk, in which he played a chronically obsessive colmulsive detective. The Will Trent character is played by Ramon Rodrigues and he does it well. His character has a quirky arrogance and complete lack of empathy but you still like him. This series will probably only last one season because it's network TV where all the good shows go to die. Hopefully it will be picked up by one of the streamers, because it's a lot of fun.
