Getting Started on beBee: The Big - Assed List
Angus Grady messaged me yesterday, Angus seemed to remember that I once wrote a getting started guide for beBee. He couldn't find it.I actually wrote a few.
I thought I would assemble them all here.
I listed them in some semblance of what I consider a logical order. They don't really follow each other. You can read them in any order you like.
Your first order of business as a newBee is to check out The beBee Cheat Sheet hive. It's packed full of tips and tricks to get you up and running in record time.
This post is headed there. You may want to bookmark this post. There's a ton of stuff here, more than you will be able to digest in one sitting.
Feel free to reach out if you need help.
LinkedIn reports a user base of 450 million people. Twitter reports 350 million. FaceBook claims over a billion. Let's take those numbers at face value (insert belly laugh here).
beBee has just over 11 million users. The current number is right on your profile's Bees tab. Make no mistake. beBee is a social tsunami (tweet)...
On Hives and their UsesThe first thing newBees do is run out and found a Hive. That's probably not the best idea. This article discusses Hives, how they could be used and why.
It also suggests improvements to the Hive system. Some of these are underway, some are implemented. beBee listens to its user base...
Javier, Juan, and the rest of the Team have done their part. They built this platform that has come to mean a lot to me in a very short time.
The job is not done. Not by a long shot.
Now it’s our turn...
A Bee's Manifesto 2, Step Up to the Plate
Sorry for the baseball metaphor. I realize this is an international platform, but it fits. “Stepping up to the plate” means you are ready to knock it out of the park to push your team ahead.
Oops, that’s another baseball metaphor. Sue me...
The more bees are in a hive, the more honey that hive puts out. The more Bees we have on beBee, the more we all get out of it.
This post is meant to help newBees navigate their way through the self-promotion process.
beBee provides a way to notify all your contacts of the fact you joined. Don’t use it...
A newBee’s Promotion Tool Kit: The Octoblu Add-on
In the main post, I talked about automating promotional tweets. I also mentioned that I would look into using Octoblu to make things easier. When I spoke with Koshin Mariano from Octoblu, he gave me this idea.
You can find out more about Octoblu here. The original post is here...
Producer vs. Update: 2 Ways to Skin a Cat
I realize this is an international community. "There's more than one way to skin a cat," is an expression meaning there is always another way to do things. Okay, so it's not the prettiest mental image. Especially for cat lovers like me. Cats are like college roommates. They're fun to have around even if they never pay rent. I digress...
To beBee or Not to beBee, That is the Question
When Javier, Juan and John first started talking about beBee's publishing platform, I got excited.
I’ve been looking forward to today for a long time.
So, it stands to reason that, today, the day it's announced, I'm drawing a blank!
I didn't have a clue what I should write about. What a time for me to get my first case of writers' block. Yes, this would be my first. I'm usually a blabbermouth...
And a Last One, just because...
Can Being Silly Have Purpose? Sure, Why Not?
I've noticed something strange. At least, I think I did. So, I'm testing it before bringing to beBee's attention. I don't want to bring it to their attention before I'm sure. You see, these guys actually act when someone points out an issue.
Go figure...

Yup, also, it is a rare post that actually belongs in many hives. The original author and the bee sharing both have the onus of staying on topic.

I fully agree. Opening up to more than 3 hives is dangerous. We can't do it. We just want you to choose the best 3 hives for your buzz.

Me too. One thing I would suggest is that when we share on behalf of the author, we include a comment saying which hive we shared it to. That way, others will know and share to some other one.

Actually, Mags, opening up to more than 3 hives is not the best idea. The spam-potential is too high. You can always ask others to share in other hives. Come to think of it, if you wanted to post in, say, 6 hives, list the other three in a comment. Someone else will do it for you.

Good idea, Dean. I just did that and scheduled 84 tweets on it. I wonder if anyone notices the links on profiles? Anybody have thoughts on that?
