Physical Intelligence - Day 10

Day 10 Physical

Intelligence

Well over the 10% mark of the 90 days I am logging here and not sure if it is just statistics or if it is meaningful to say that I am 15% towards the ballpark of 186lbs.  I like the idea of a ballpark figure rather than a goal because I am not sure why we need goal-setting unless we hate what we are trying to accomplish and if we hate what we are trying to accomplish, setting a goal for it is a reminder that we hate it.  There is a peculiar logic to this idea of goal-setting.

The interesting thing last year is that my physical intelligence learning comprised of books borrowed from the library.  This year I decided to check our home library to see what books we actually purchased regarding physical intelligence and in the thousands of book and the various rooms that are loaded with books, I discovered that our investment in this education amounted to just ONE book.  When I look at other non-business business books, the home is full of cerebral, psychological, spiritual, organizational etc etc etc books but just one about fitness.

That says a lot and that one book is not really a hardcore practice manual but a book called FITNESS IS RELIGION - KEEP THE FAITH.  I may have looked at it last year but I am sure that I did not really use it.  So the one book we actually spent money on is the one that remains 99% unexplored.  Having browsed it, it is actually an interesting book for beginners of physical fitness.  Now I think about it, I did see this book last year because the cover says the author is a fitness trainer for Madonna.  I remember that now - but I also know I gave it a passing glance.

Having glanced it again, it actually gets more informative around Page 58, so I guess I glanced at the first 50 pages and probably thought that it is no more informative than the log I am writing.  The seven benefits of "keeping the faith" however is interesting as a reminder of benefits

The author Ray Kybartas writes :

1. An improved quality of life

2. A slowing down of the aging process

3. Improved psychological health

4. Consistent weight control

5. Improved cardiovascular health

6. Increased strength and muscle mass

7. Improved body chemistry

I found it interesting that when I look at the extent of Ray Kybartas and his personal brand online, other than mention of his book and one or two odd articles, he is largely off the social media radar, that fact alone is motivating me now to really dig into his book.

Ray Kybartas

This is a guy who is one of the most sought after physical fitness trainers in Hollywood and he basically has a brand that is akin to an unlisted telephone number.  Now that is what I call success.  Congratulations Ray !

The other thing that is the same as last year is my final Agile Methodologies class is set for next Monday.  Just like last year the starting line for reading is the same, but this year I am going to focus on the book we actually purchased and not the books available at the public library.

LOG Day 100f 90- 11th Apr 2016

Realizing there is a lot to learn in terms of physical intelligence, and that knowledge was not re-
motely covered back when | was a teenager at school

The trend so far has been to engage at the most minimal level possible, without raising the bar on
imagination and discovery. The kind of learning demanded in physical intelligence is additional
to the learning journey | am on. This will necessitate | scale back night school, with my current
night school end of term exam due next week.

Space needs to be made to accommodate physical intelligence as an actual learning. If | can do
this. this is what will enhance practice. It is not sufficient to rely on coaching alone - whether itis

There was a small amount of learning that has accompanied my practice so far, but so long as.
that practice is minimal, the associated learning is minimal also - and just like academic subjects.
- the relationship between theory and practice creates either an academic exercise or it can be-
come a value contribution.

With appropriate knowledge in hand, that will also add value to variety, whereas what | am en-
gaging right now is fairly routine and very basic. Physical intelligence should not be reduced to a
ritual where | begin to go through the motions - it is, can and should be a great contribution to
learning, which in turn can be a transformation in physical practice.
