Physical Intelligence - Day 51
On the one hand I am learning about life extending work and on the other getting sad news about another work colleague who is battling cancer, this one living in New Zealand. It is tough to get caught in an illness that increases odds of lessened mortality especially since this is a time when we are on the cusp of medical breakthroughs that sound promising but whose time has not yet come. Cancer makes natural human lifespan the chief conversation but there is also a conversation about augmented human lifespan.
The former conversation creates concerns that we may individually not live our full lifespan, but the other conversation makes us realize that scientists are discovering ways of extending life which are not yet ready for prime-time. So this conversation is futurism but practical in their long-term consequence. The idea that we may extend our lives by 50 years is not outlandish, but it isn't happening right now.
