Timeshares and Travel

We have owned a timeshare since 1992 and I think they are a very good way to save on accommodation and to get some really nice places to stay when visiting other parts of the world. We have used our timeshare, every year since we have purchased it and it has made travelling much more fun and affordable. But I have a friend who bought a timeshare in 2000 and has not used it once. I keep telling him he should sell as he is wasting his money.

When asked by my friends whether they should consider the idea of a timeshare I always say "yes!" but with a caveat "Never buy a timeshare on the retail market, always buy on the wholesale market." We belong to a timeshare program called WorldMark, which was one of the first point system clubs and which has over 200 resorts to choose in addition to having an affiliate club in the South Pacific which has over 40 resorts available to us. In addition, the club is affiliated with RCI (Resort Condominiums International), so has members we have access to resorts the world over. We have used our timeshare every year since we purchased and we will continue to do so as we drift more into the idea of retiring.

If you are interested in purchasing a time share I strongly suggest you search and look at companies such as Sell My Timeshares Now or Timeshares for Sale by Owner (specialises in WorldMark Sales) as you could find Timeshares or sale for as little as $1.00 (one dollar) plus the yearly maintenance fee. Our Timeshare cost us about $17,000 and now if you go buy a WorldMark timeshare on the retail market it could cost you up to $45,000 however on the wholesale market or resale market you could buy one for between $2,300 and $27, 000.

I don't regret my timeshare purchase, and I do recommend Timeshares as the way to go for travelling but be smart when you buy them.  I also recommend that you check out the following sites before you purchase your first-time share Timeshare Users Group and TimeShare Resale Fraud,. What has been your experiences with travel and timeshare sales pitches?

Lisa \ud83d\udc1d Gallagher We own a points timeshare, which means that we are not tied to one base, but can use any of the over 200 Worldmark sites when we travel. We originally bought the timeshare in Seattle Washington in 1992. A timeshare for around $500 can probably be found, but when buying check out the fees and the fee structures in the price. Every timeshare, I believe charges a yearly fee for upkeep and other costs. These can add thousands to your purchase price., but if you use the timeshare on a regular basis, the fees may be worth it to you and your family

If I could find a timeshare for 500.00 or less, I'd be in! Thanks for the links and advice, I will have to check out the links you provided. Where do you own your timeshare?

We own time shares through the Disney Vacation Club. Disney partners with RCi, too. It was one of the best purchases that we have made.
