    Description

    SUMMARY

    The Building Automation System Operating Technologist is in charge of operating Building Automation Systems (BAS) in BGIS-managed client facilities. The tasks include implementing control changes, analyzing trend data for troubleshooting, optimizing energy efficiency, and coordinating solutions for complex issues.

    KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    Project Support

    • Collaborate with building operators and site managers to identify operational and energy-saving opportunities in BAS operations.
    • Develop recommendations for system changes and coordinate with BAS Tech I and Tech II for implementation.
    • Conduct commissioning inspections to ensure smooth project transitions.

    On-going Operations

    • Respond to service requests related to BAS/Control issues for diagnosis and resolution.
    • Optimize facility uptime and asset integrity.
    • Monitor system performance, conduct maintenance, and implement corrective measures to achieve operational goals.
    • Coordinate repairs and temporary overrides to minimize disruptions.
    • Keep remote platforms updated.
    • Record maintenance activities and ensure compliance with established processes.

    Client Relations

    • Provide feedback on equipment conditions and suggest improvements.
    • Enhance tenant satisfaction through quality service delivery.

    Administration

    • Document resolution data in service management systems.
    • Report on maintenance activities and ensure quality standards are met.
    • Assist in facility projects and perform other assigned duties.

    KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

    • College Diploma in a related field.
    • Experience in BAS operation and maintenance.
    • Proficiency in BAS navigation, troubleshooting, and data analysis.
    • Skills in word processing, spreadsheet analysis, and BACnet systems.
    • Knowledge of optimization strategies for energy management.
    • Adherence to facility operation practices and strong client-service orientation.
    • Effective communication and peer support skills.
    • Ability to work on-call and handle emergency situations.
    • Programming and installation experience in BAS is an asset.
    • Bilingualism and a valid driver's license are assets.
