- Assisting designated portfolio stakeholders with the ongoing identification, assessment, measurement and monitoring of enterprise and operational risks.
- Providing risk expertise to stakeholders for designated portfolios including Senior Management and Executive Leadership Team members to manage operational risks effectively and within appetite.
- Identifying and implementing opportunities to continually enhance enterprise and operational risk management methodologies, policies, processes and tools.
- Leading the development of enterprise and operational risk metrics for designated portfolios to help evaluate the risk profile and alignment with the desired risk appetite.
- Analyze risk measures collected by the Manager Enterprise Operational Risk Management for themes and trends.
- Providing enterprise-wide risk reporting for Executive Leadership Team and the Board.
- Overseeing the effective management and response to operational incidents and near-misses across the designated portfolios.
- Managing governance processes for model risk management (including artificial intelligence and machine learning) to ensure adherence with Frameworks and Guidelines.
- Conducting fraud risk (self) assessments for designated portfolios with the aim of identifying and evaluating fraud scenarios and providing recommendations on key risk and control gaps to Senior Management and Executive Leadership Team.
- Facilitating risk assessments on key strategic initiatives and projects and providing risk oversight for significant projects.
- Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with internal stakeholders for designated portfolios as well as with external advisors, subject-matter experts, and pension peers.
- Facilitating ongoing communication and information sharing among OMERS Compliance, Internal Audit and other related functions.
- Promoting risk awareness and risk culture across the organization
- A minimum of 10 years relevant work and management experience in risk management, or in a control, audit, or IT function within the pension services; financial services; or consulting industries.
- A risk management designation/certification, CISA, MBA, CPA, or equivalent is desirable.
- Solid understanding of COBIT is desirable.
- Significant experience in developing and implementing an enterprise and operational risk management framework/program within a large and complex organization.
- Demonstrated experience in developing tailored, practical, and flexible solutions.
- Strong communication and influencing skills, with experience developing and facilitating education programs at an executive management level.
- Proven leadership, change management, strategic-thinking skills, and critical-thinking skills.
- Proven ability to communicate complex information in a clear, concise and structured manner.
- Demonstrated ability to develop trusted collaborative working relationships across multiple stakeholders.
- Computer skills: Expert-level knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
