Western Stevedoring is seeking an HR Coordinator to join our team.

This full-time, 1 year contract position is based at our head office in North Vancouver and reports to the Director of Human Resources.


The Position


The HR Coordinator will be responsible for supporting the daily functions of the Human Resource department for the Terminals & Stevedoring Division including coordination of recruitment, compensation and benefit administration, compliance with employment regulations, policies and procedures, and control and maintain employee data.

This position will support all employees within the organization with inquiries relating to all aspects of the employee/employer relationship.


You will be part of a motivated and diverse team and will have a high degree of interaction with all employees throughout the organization.


Responsibilities & Activities

  • Supports the planning, development, implementation, and monitoring of all divisional HR related activities to ensure a positive employer brand.
  • Collaborates with managers to support progressive and unbiased recruitment process to attract and retain highperforming talent, including effective support of employee life cycle.
  • Liaise with Finance team to ensure confidential processing of payroll and reporting.
  • Maintains in depth knowledge of employee benefit programs and supports all daytoday administration.
  • Support regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Gather and analyze data with useful HR metrics.

Qualifications & Skills

  • A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a degree in Human Resources or a related discipline supplemented by a minimum of three (3) years of related experience that includes working at an administrative or coordinator level supporting the HR function.
  • Superior planning and organizing skills including high attention to detail.
  • Strong customer orientation with demonstrated ability to multitask and be able to inspire, work alongside, and engage others seen as a trusted advisor.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team and in a selfdirected manner.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and drive for continuous improvement.
  • Good understanding of Human Resources principles, practices, and processes.
  • Solid understanding of Human Resources Information Systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to administer employee benefits.
