    The Department of FinancialReporting is seeking an energetic team player with sharp problem-solvingabilities, excellent analytical and investigatory skills, high attention todetail, effective organizational and time- management skills, and comfortworking both independently as well as part of a team.

    Reporting to the SeniorFinancial Analyst – Grants and Donations, this position will assist with theprocessing, monitoring, reporting, and analysis of grants and donations. Theprimary focus of this position is to ensure the compliance, accuracy and integrityof financial reporting related to grants and donations, in addition to theprovision of quality client service.

    KeyResponsibilities:

  • Support the Senior Financial Analyst in the delivery of financial services to clients including accounting and financial analysis, reporting, and budgeting.
  • Maintenance and tracking of externally funded projects within portfolio responsibility.
  • Prepare and post journal entries related to grants and donations.
  • Prepare account reconciliations including investigation, analysis, and correction.
  • Prepare required monthly, quarterly, and annual reports as well as assist with pulling any auditor requested data.
  • Maintain compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Participate in continuous process review and improvement.
  • Skills& Abilities:

  • Strong accounting knowledge and experience is essential, particularly Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS) related to grants, funding sources, donations, and deferred revenue.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Self-starter withexcellent attention to detail, investigative, analytical, and problem-solvingskills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills (preference for pivots and other advanced functions).
  • Proficiency with various software applications (preference for experience in PeopleSoft Finance, Microsoft 365 applications, Salesforce).
  • Qualifications:

  • 2-year Accounting Diploma.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in an intermediate accounting position, post-diploma, is essential.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience in public sector or educational environments.
  • Remuneration : $57, $73,528 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package. (Classification – Finance/AccountingAssistant ll).

    Thisposition is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE)Collective Agreement.
