Shift your Automotive career into high gear as an Automotive Service person II_**
_ If you are mechanically inclined and passionate about the safety and maintenance of vehicles, this is the job for you_

As an Automotive Serviceperson II, you will:

  • Grease and lubricate automobiles, trucks and equipment
  • Perform oil changes and routine maintenance checks
  • Complete tire swap overs; service and install batteries; replace light bulbs, lenses, fuses, signal light flashers and windshield wiper blades
  • Visually inspect vehicle components such as tie rod ends, universal joints, brake hoses, exhaust systems, and oil and coolant systems for excessive wear or leaks and reports findings to a journeyman or supervisor
  • Assist a journeyman in the repair of automotive vehicles
  • Maintain cleanliness in shop
  • Deliver defective automotive vehicles to a repair shop
  • Notify the Parts section when supplies are low
  • Maintain work records such as mileage on vehicles, number of tires installed, work performed, etc
  • Remove lighting, radios, wiring, and other installed component in the decommissioning of vehicles
  • Perform other related work as required

Qualifications:


  • Completion of Grade 10
  • Experience in servicing automotive vehicles and equipment
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered
  • Ability to interact positively and effectively with customers
  • Ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions and maintain records
  • Ability to pass Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.), a timed upper body strength and mobility test, and preemployment City medical examination is required
  • Ability to pass respirator fit testing
  • An asset to have a valid Alberta Class 3 driver's license with airbrake endorsement (or provincial equivalent), but not mandatory
  • Obtain and maintain a City of Edmonton Driver's permit is a requirement of this position
  • Hire is dependent upon an Enhanced Police Information Check satisfactory to the City of Edmonton
