    Description

    Position Purpose

    The Sr. Manager, People & Culture will be an integral member of the extended leadership team and will be dedicated to cultivating a dynamic, inclusive and cohesive workplace culture

    Responsibilities

    Strategic and Operational Planning

    • Continue to implement Human Resources administration policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation such as Employment Standards;
    • Monitor the progress of work plans aligned with HR strategies, objectives and other priorities such as orientation plans, recruitment and retention strategies, and training initiatives;
    • Support professional development/ training plans to improve competencies.

    Financial Management

    • Payroll Administration and Processing support
    • Provide information to Finance on all new employees.
    • Help support the establishment and maintenance of the compensation structure;

    Policies & Procedures

    • Administer and maintain Human Resource Policies;
    • Coach and counsel management on Human Resources policies and procedures to help ensure consistent and equitable application;

    Recruitment

    • Oversee the recruitment and selection function by developing procedures and ensuring they are consistently followed;
    • In collaboration with management, maintain the organizational structure by creating / updating job requirements and job descriptions for all positions regularly;

    Organizational Leadership

    • Creates learning and development programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for employees;
    • Maintains compliance with provincial employment laws and regulations and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance;
    • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law;
    • Other duties as required from time to time to support the organization's objectives

    Employee Relations

    • Facilitate employee and union relations
    • Promote a productive culture in the organization that values diversity, trust and respect for individuals and their contributions;
    • Oversees employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations;
    • Manages the talent acquisition process, which may include recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants, particularly for managerial, exempt, and professional roles;

    Organizational requirements

    • Conduct job responsibilities with a commitment to harm reduction, trauma- informed, women-centered and anti-oppressive practices.
    • Abide by the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and work in a manner that is safe, reporting incidents immediately to direct supervisor.
    • Adhere to the policies and procedures of The Jean Tweed Centre.
    • Perform other duties as assigned in order to meet the overall goals and objectives of The Jean Tweed Centre.
    • Maintain a client Service Orientation including learning about and addressing client needs and concerns.
    • Work collaboratively including respect others, sharing information, consulting and celebrating shared successes.
    • Demonstrate accountability by holding self-responsible and following tough on commitments.
    • Support inclusion and equity by respecting others, embracing diversity and addressing oppression.
    • Commit to continuous learning through professional development, giving and receiving constructive feedback and applying new skills.

    Qualifications

    • Degree or equivalent in Human Resources Managers or a related field;
    • At least 5+ years' experience as a Human Resource Professional
    • Experience in a unionized environment is required
    • Knowledge and practical experience with employment legislations, e.g. Employment Standards, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Labour Relations Act, Human Rights Code, AODA, etc.
    • Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills to deal effectively with multiple stakeholders.
    • Strong knowledge of provincial employment laws
    • Experience with ADP Workforce Now Payroll is required
    • Strong organizational and administrative skills, with the ability to multi-task, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
    • Handle confidential matters with discretion.
    • Work effectively and reliably under pressure, adaptable to change.
    • Strong computer knowledge and skills of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft programs and human resources information system.

    Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

    Pay: $75,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
