    Job Description Title: Marketing & Communications Coordinator

    Reports to: Director of Communications & Marketing

    Start Date: As soon as possible

    Scope

    Reporting to the Director of Communications & Marketing, the Marketing and Communications Coordinator will support developing and implementing comprehensive communication and marketing plans and initiatives that support the School's overall strategic plans and the Advancement Office's departmental goals. This position supports the School's public relations efforts through storytelling, articles, publications, and social media posts.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Communications & Marketing:

    • Support the Director with the development, coordination, execution, and distribution of strategic and tactical marketing and communications efforts to increase the School's visibility through storytelling in various media.
    • Design, plan, research, write, edit, and produce text/story content for print and electronic publications.
    • Arrange interviews and attend classroom activities and school events to prepare features and stories. Act as the school's roaming reporter.
    • Manage the School's social media presence and engage in online community relations.
    • Support with the review and evaluation of communication strategies by tracking and measuring the level of engagement within the school community.
    • Manage, schedule, and analyze social media content across all school platforms and provide monthly reports to make recommendations for future content.
    • Track social media patterns to identify trends and opportunities.
    • Manage the School's weekly e-newsletter by obtaining submissions, editing, and finalizing before the weekly deadline.
    • Identify opportunities, develop plans and content to promote various departments (including Admissions and Development), and support the School's Mission, Vision, and Strategic Plan. This includes liaising and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure their messaging's consistency, timing, and relevancy.
    • Provide stakeholders with strategies to optimize their messaging efficacy and position. This includes working with various internal staff and faculty to create event promotional plans to create awareness for community events, cultural celebrations, or parent information sessions.
    • Collaborate with the website assistant regarding digital/online strategy planning and updates.
    • Stay informed of developments in marketing, communications, and public relations and seek appropriate accreditation and certification, both personally and for the School as a whole.
    • Proofread, edit, and format communications regularly.
    • School photography.

    Experience, Skills, and Attributes

    • Demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience in the design and execution of marketing, strategic communications, and public relations activities, including social media platforms.
    • Must have excellent writing and editing skills.
    • Possess a solid understanding of effective marketing and communication techniques and strategies.
    • Strong understanding of industry trends, benchmark metrics and ways to improve marketing efforts.
    • Extensive experience on all social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok)
    • Knowledge and experience with scheduling platforms such as Later and Facebook Business Suite
    • Strong creative, strategic, analytical, and organizational skills.
    • Computer literacy in word processing, page layout, and online applications.
    • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to deal with internal and external audiences.
    • Strong time management with the ability to manage multiple projects at a time.
    • Initiates and completes processes that achieve new, unique, or challenging objectives.
    • Establishes goals and achieves increases in organizational effectiveness.
    • Advocates and exhibits excellent customer service internally and externally.
    • Welcomes a dynamic and changing environment.
    • Enthusiastic and creative with a positive attitude
    • Accepts ownership and accountability and possesses a high level of integrity.

    Qualifications

    • Valid BC driver's license and flexibility to travel locally and work flexible hours when required.
    • Diploma or degree in communications, marketing, or a related discipline plus considerable related experience, or an equivalent combination of training, education, and experience.
