Lead Organizations
The South Markham Community Action Table is co-led by Agincourt Community Services Association (ACSA) and Social Services Network (SSN). ACSA is a nonprofit, multi service agency addressing needs and empowering children, youth, newcomers, homeless, and otherwise underserved communities. Social Services Network (SSN) delivers programs and services to older adults and seniors.

As a not-for-profit organization, SSN's objective is to create an inclusive society where the dignity of our aging population is maintained through promotion of independence, social inclusion, and volunteerism.

The position will be hired through ACSA, as ACSA is the current contract holder.


Summary of Job Functions


We are seeking a dynamic individual who can support the work and initiatives of the South-Central Markham Community Action Table (SMCAT).

CATs are community-driven, collaborative tables that will inform the Community Safety and Well-Being plan for York region.

CATs are comprised of a broad range of stakeholders that focus on local engagement to address Mental Health and Mental Well-Being and Housing Stability.

Specifically, the coordinator is responsible for CAT convening and coordination, partnership development, resident engagement and outreach, as well as performing various administrative duties.


Duties include:


1.
Partnership Development

  • Work closely with York Region and lead organizations to recruit and engage identified stakeholders to participate in the CAT table
  • Liaise and build relationships between residents, community service providers, stakeholders, elected officials and any party/group conducive to advancing the work in the community
  • Report to and maintain relationships with South Markham CAT project partners including but not limited to York Region, United Way and York University

2.
Resident Engagement and Outreach

  • Recruit resident leaders to the Community Action Table.
The work includes targeting residents who are directly affected by or have knowledge of a focus area's identified risk factors, and who identify as belonging to a priority population:
youth, seniors, Indigenous, Persons with disabilities, LGBTQ2S+, newcomers and racialized communities

  • Conduct resident engagement that is conducive to moving the work forward
  • Provide ongoing support to resident CAT members, such as coaching/mentorship to ensure their active participation in the table, as well as to other residents who show an interest in moving work in their community forward
  • Supervise and support the mentorship of Community Ambassadors to champion local outreach and work for resident engagement and presence
  • Support the ongoing efforts of the Resident Leaders group and their integration into the South Markham CAT and its subcommittees
  • Onboard and train additional Community Ambassadors, students and volunteers to support local engagement and initiatives

3.
CAT Convening and Coordination

  • Work closely with SMCAT coleads and York Region to convene quarterly CAT meetings, and monthly subcommittee meetings (one for each priority)

Duties include:
sending out meeting reminders, taking meeting minutes, preparing materials, organizing venues and facilitating

  • Work closely with coleads to coordinate initiatives, events and working groups to support priorities (including Mental Health Research Project, SMCAT Summits)
  • Facilitate support for York University and Research Coordinator for the Mental Health Research Project
  • Ensure that the South Markham CAT is on track with its work plan and activities; and communicate progress to York Region and members of the SMCAT
  • Support the onboarding, mentorship and portfolio of the South Markham QAG Facilitator
  • Plan, implement, evaluate and report on project with agency and resident partners

4.
Capacity Building and Workshops

  • Work collaboratively with agency leads and external consultants to identify, develop and deliver relevant workshops and skills building as identified by SMCAT
  • Support Community Ambassadors with capacity building

5.
Administrative Functions

  • Develop communication materials for project, ongoing as needed
  • Ensure communication materials and contact lists are kept up to date
  • Ensure records of contacts, events, and activities are tracked and documented
  • Develop and implement any relevant social media strategy
  • Responsible for report writing, as well as budget tracking

6.
General Functions

  • Support the mentorship and collaboration between all South Markham team members
  • Must be available for some evening and weekend work, as required
  • Other duties as identified by ACSA
