    OVERVIEW

    Michael Garron Hospital (MGH) is an award-winning hospital and one of Toronto's best kept secrets.     Join us as a Summer Student and help to Create Care Inspired by Community in East Toronto As a Summer Student you will work with us on a variety of projects and other initiatives in Professional Practice. We are looking for a student that is interested in pursuing a career in one of the following health professions including: speech language pathology, occupational therapy, physical therapy, dietetics, respiratory therapy and social work.

    These positions are offered through the support of Government of Canada-Canada Summer Jobs Program. All applicants must meet the minimum requirements of that program.

    EDUCATION

    Enrollment in a relevant post-secondary program, required. Health Sciences student preferred.

    QUALIFICATIONS


    • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills

    • Strong demonstration of tact and diplomacy with a customer service focus

    • Expectation of this role encompasses the need to maintain confidentiality with respect to all aspects of the work being performed

    • Demonstrated ability to work independently, and prioritize workload

    • Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills

    • Demonstrated computer literacy with proficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel,PowerPoint

    • Experience withinformation gathering and the ability to synthesize and summarize information

    • Ability to prepare written reports and documents that are clear and concise

    • Comfortable working within a team as a leader and/or team memberand with stakeholders at all levels of the organization

    • All employees of Michael Garron Hospital (MGH), a division of Toronto East Health Network (TEHN), agree to work within the legislated practices of the Occupational Health and Safety Act of Ontario.
