    Position Details : Permanent, Full-time position.
    Salary Range: $66,100 – $82,600, based on a 35-hour work week. Salary for this position will commensurate with each individual's education and/or experience as it relates to the position.

    What You Will Do

    As a member of the Ontario Conservation PRO Team, you will be responsible for leading and providing critical input into the delivery and growth of the Conservation PRO fish habitat offset projects which contributes to regional surplus revenue goals necessary for overall DUC conservation program delivery and operation.

    Duties will include providing input and leadership for the implementation and growth of Conservation PRO fish habitat offsetting projects. This may include interfacing with Clients, identifying new fish offsetting opportunities, project management for offset construction, coordinating monitoring programs, stakeholder engagement, and assisting in project designs and costing. Duties may also include data collection, processing and analysis, acquisition, and maintenance of equipment.

    You need to be an enthusiastic team player and an effective communicator with the ability to build positive working relationships with fellow DUC staff, municipal and provincial government staff, project landowners, and other conservation agencies.

    A minimum of 5 years of experience in fish biology/ecology related field and/or environmental consulting which includes experience with fish related field studies makes you the ideal candidate for the position.

    Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in biology, environmental science or natural resource management with some fish related focus.
  • Experience in fish biology/ecology related field and/or environmental consulting which includes experience with fish related field studies. This may include planning and leading fieldwork, data collection, maintenance of technical equipment and supplies, data analysis related to fish and fish habitats restoration, offsetting techniques and project management.
  • Knowledge of fish habitat restoration and offsetting techniques and projects.
  • Strong skills in proposal writing, contract management and results reporting.
  • Requires understanding of how provincial environmental regulations, conservation policies and the federal Acts such as the Fisheries Act impact project opportunities and delivery.
  • Analyzing data using judgement, critical thinking, and past experiences to design restoration project.
  • Awareness of provincial Occupational Health and Safety practices.
  • Ability to travel staying over night at times, work long hours outdoors, perform strenuous physical tasks.
  • Must be able to lift and carry equipment or materials up to 40 lbs.
  • A valid class 5 driver's license.
  • Bilingual in French and English is an asset.
