    Important Note: This role may involve relocating temporarily within Ontario, due to varied project locations and durations. Experience in constructing and renovating heavy civil transportation infrastructure, often involving water elements, is essential.

    Position Overview:

    As the assistant project manager reporting to the Ontario operations manager, you will play a vital role supporting the Project Manager in planning and executing medium to large civil construction projects effectively.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Management – 50%

    • Ensure projects meet schedules, budget, client expectations, safety, and quality standards
    • Assist in contract preparation, negotiations, and budget management
    • Coordinate subcontractors, manage materials, and ensure site safety compliance
    • Handle supplier invoices, change orders, and project progress tracking

    Technical – 25%

    • Aid in design completion, technical specifications, and quality control programs
    • Support environmental management and civil quality assurance processes

    Communication – 25%

    • Engage with clients, stakeholders, and project team for effective communication
    • Prepare project documents, maintain relationships, and ensure compliance

    Requirements:

    Education/ Certifications

    • Engineering or relevant degree, PMP certification is a plus
    • Minimum 5 years experience in construction project management
    • Knowledge of safety regulations, blueprints, and contract administration

    Skills and Competencies

    • Analytical, strategic thinking, and decision-making skills
    • Effective communication, stress management, and performance evaluation abilities
    • Proficiency in MS Office, MS Project, and project management tools
