- Assist Camp Directors in supervision of camp counsellors to ensure they are fulfilling their roles
- Provide leadership to the camp staff team by monitoring, coaching and mentoring staff as well as providing on-going feedback, and performance appraisals to direct reports
- Support counsellors with program delivery ensuring programs are in line with program manuals, supporting with set up/take down and organization of program equipment, and ensuring counsellors have all the required materials
- Facilitate programs and assist with training of programs to camp staff
- When required, will assist in covering counsellor breaks, staff absences and deliver programs
- Responsible for attending all staff trainings and meetings; arriving on time, and actively participating and contributing to the development of all camp staff
- Ensure Health & Safety procedures are being followed and maintained and contribute to the cleaning, safety and maintenance to camp sites
- Act as a positive role model for the campers and fellow staff through embodying the YMCA values, policies and procedures, Day Camp conditions of employment/guidelines and the Ontario Camping Association standards
- Commitment to the YMCA's
- Focus on the health, safety and wellbeing of all children, youth, and vulnerable people in YMCA programs including understanding legal and moral obligations related to reporting suspected child abuse to Child Protection Services
- YMCA Competencies: Accountable, Relationship-Builder, Improvement-Orientated, Team Player & Leader, Equity and Wellbeing Promoter
- Completed or currently enrolled in post-secondary education (preferred)
- Standard First Aid and CPR 'C' certificate valid until the last day of contract
- Minimum 1 year experience working in a camp environment
- Experience with YMCA Day Camps an asset
- Experience working with children preferred
- Demonstrated ability to work well both independently and in a team environment
- Well-developed interpersonal, and relationship building skills; ability to establish rapport and excellent communication with families, staff and volunteers
- Excellent communication skills and ability to lead a group of children
- Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and building a sense of belonging

Day Camp Support Leads play an integral role in ensuring every child has the opportunity to participate in a camp experience. Day Camp Support Leads supervise 2-7 counsellors; ensures programs are of the highest quality, are in accordance with the Day Camp program manuals and achieve camp outcomes that include all campers and staff being engaged and achieving success.
