    THE ROLE

    We are seeking a future-focused Senior Director, Data & Analytics, with diverse technology and business experience and a proven background of hands-on managing and leveraging of data in organizations. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, Data and Technology, the Senior Director, Data & Analytics will partner with stakeholders to collaboratively engage, model, and drive the use of data across the organization from intake to consumption.

    This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Data & Analytics leader to join a team of high performing professionals and make a great impact.

    This role is based in downtown Toronto under a hybrid work policy, allowing employees the flexibility to work remotely and in-office (two days per week in-office).

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    The Senior Director, Data & Analytics will be responsible for a variety of duties, including but not limited to the following:

    • Develop and mature the UPP data strategy across the organization so data can be trusted and useful
    • Lead a high performing team of data professionals with an emphasis on data architecture, data operations, data analytics and data engineering
    • Establish leading practices to deliver data solutions that are aligned with other technology disciplines including enterprise architecture, cybersecurity, solution delivery and operations
    • Identify and leverage modern cloud-based data technologies, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning to deliver with speed, accuracy, predictability and robust controls
    • Establish and build relationships across the organization to support a data centric operating model and enable data driven insights
    • Leverage leading frameworks (such as DCAM) to continually mature and evolve the data strategy and frequently self-asses the capabilities for progress
    • Define and communicate to the appropriate stakeholders the data strategies, capabilities, and plans, including future states and roadmaps.
    • Research and establish peer connections to understand industry trends and their applicability to support data plans and strategies for the enterprise
    • Effectively communicate to various audiences the value of data and its associated management practices.
    • Establish and oversee the management of UPP's Data Catalog in the Enterprise Architecture Repository
    • Contribute to UPP's reputation as a respectful employer, partner, and participant in the financial sector

    QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

    • Overseeing, developing, and implementing an enterprise-wide Data strategy including data engineering, data operations, data analytics and data architecture
    • CDMP (Certified Data Management Professional) or equivalent certification
    • A minimum of 15 years of combined experience in Data Governance, Data Architecture, Data Modeling and Design, Database and Storage Management, Data Security, Reference and Master Data Management, Data Integration, Documents and Content Management, Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence, Metadata, and Data Quality.
    • A minimum of 10 years of experience leading agile and data focused delivery teams that use tools including,
    • database management tools
    • Cloud-based databases (e.g., MS SQL, Postgres, MySQL, etc.)
    • ETL tools (cloud-based or not)
    • SQL, R, Python and other data query languages
    • Power BI, Tableau, Domo or other data visualization tools
    • Proven experience with relational and non-relational data.
    • Proven experience in the data domains of Pensions, Investments, and Corporate Functions
    • Proven experience designing and implementing cloud-centric solutions with both internal and managed service provider teams within medium-large enterprise-level complex technology environment(s)
    • Strong understanding of
    • Data sampling methodologies
    • Statistical analysis
