    A Day in the Life...
    Reporting to the Director, Alumni Relations, the Marketing and Communications Specialist will lead the strategic design and execution of all marketing and communications projects for Alumni Relations. The incumbent will create and implement a diversified Alumni Relations communications plan that raises awareness amongst alumni and the broader community. The Marketing and Communications Specialist will also work with members of the Alumni Relations team and different offices across the University to ensure that all alumni communications align with the strategic plan and brand position of the University.

    As the Marketing and Communications Specialist, you will:

  • Oversee, develop and execute comprehensive marketing and communications strategies with clearly defined goals, objectives, target audiences, marketing mediums and performance metrics for the department of Alumni Relations;
  • Plan, develop and implement an integrated communications strategy and support fundraising and alumni engagement efforts;
  • Establish priorities and schedule necessary resources for marketing initiatives;
  • Oversee marketing and communication metrics, data, analytics, reporting and provide evidence-based recommendations for future strategic approaches, and new technologies;
  • Provide expertise on short-term and long-term planning, events and programming, materials for alumni representation at marque University events, alumni profile program and alumni milestones and news stories;
  • Oversee and create a broad range of marketing and communication content for use across multiple platforms;
  • Ensure that all communication materials, promotional items, print, and digital media align with the University's guidelines and goals, marketplace best practices, and accessibility standards and legislation;
  • Act as the department expert in Marketing Communications while keeping up with trends and new technologies;
  • Develop the communications strategy to mobilize, inspire, guide and engage donors, partners, volunteers, alumni and members of the University community;
  • Coordinate and communicate content requirements and timelines to key stakeholders to ensure that deadlines and objectives are met.
  • What you need to Succeed...

  • Undergraduate Degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or Journalism, or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • 6-8 years of experience in a strategic/digital marketing and communications role;
  • Excellent understanding of graphic design and proficient in the use of Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress and social media sites with sound knowledge of digital/social media content platforms and video editing tools;
  • Familiarity with Web Accessibility standards and designing for inclusive experiences;
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating an ability to conceptualize, design and execute strategic, results-driven creative suited to engage audiences across multiple channels and platforms;
  • Experience expressing a brand identity across a range of channels and campaigns;
  • Working knowledge of University software, databases, and CRM-systems ( Workday, BrockDB, Raiser's Edge, Campaign Monitor, SharePoint);
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills;
  • Strong presentation skills with the ability to clearly articulate concepts, messages, and strategies;
  • Ability to establish positive and productive working relationships with various internal and external stakeholders;
  • Strong ability to effectively manage multiple files and quickly change focus in a fast-paced environment where priorities are apt to change on short notice.

  • Salary and Benefit Information

  • Job Grade L, Salary Scale: $62,580-$107,280*;
  • Target Hiring Range: $62,580-$65,000;
  • This position includes full comprehensive benefits including tuition waiver.
  • *The salary range indicated is representative of all positions evaluated at this level. Actual salary is determined by assessing related skills, experience, internal equity and market competitiveness, subject to available budget.
