    Description

    As the Manager, Software and Solution Planning you are responsible for managing a dedicated team of Product Owners in IT Planning, Administration and Delivery as well as a team assigned to Program Nova. As a subject matter expert, you will lead the efforts of defining governance in planning, usage and maintenance on software and solutions at use within the corporation.

    The Manager engages stakeholders, understands their business, and develops long-term product roadmaps to support their strategic goals and objectives. In addition, the position helps identify improvement opportunities, conducts research, and delivers new or improved products to drive business value.

    Responsibilities

    • Responsible for activities of a manager, including input and management of operating budget, participation in planning, budgeting for special projects, and improvement initiatives.
    • Foster a high-performance culture that is consistent with corporate vision, values and leading practices.
    • Provide governance oversight to strategic initiatives/programs and contributes to providing necessary governance controls.
    • Recommend or approve any changes that may be necessary and lead to an update to the Agile-Scrum Guidance/Governance artefact.
    • Benchmark Agile/Scrum process and performance metrics by following best practices and comparing to those of leading companies in the same or other industries.
    • Lead establishment of a centre of excellence and agile communities of practice for product owners and product managers.
    • Lead the translation of business strategy into product strategy and roadmaps by facilitating the collaboration and alignment of business leaders and technology teams.
    • Responsible for stakeholder analysis to identify the stakeholders at the project and portfolio levels.
    • Closely monitor metrics and suggest new solutions to increase the product's business value.
    • Develop and contribute to culture, process, and consistent action for continuous improvement of product ownership and other Agile processes across Agile teams.
    • Ensure the overall health of the Agile development process by coaching and developing product owners and monitoring team productivity and efficiency.

    Qualifications

    • Degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline.
    • SAFe POPM (Product Manager/Product Owner) certification.
    • Supplementary coursework in agile product management an asset.
    • Eight years of related experience, including: three years is in a management role, progressive responsibilities in an environment with a mix of custom, packaged and configured applications and successfully leading product development in an Agile environment
    • Experience in product strategy/vision/roadmaps in a Lean-Agile environment an asset.
    • Experience collaborating with or managing complex cross-departmental teams in a Lean-Agile environment an asset.
    • Quickly absorb complex, ambiguous concepts and organize them into structured requirements.
    • Relationship management and leadership skills to influence others.
