    Richardson operates port terminals from coast to coast across Canada and exports Canadian-grown grains and oilseeds to end-use markets in over 50 countries around the globe.

    We currently have an opportunity for an Director, Operations at our Richardson Port Terminal located in North Vancouver, BC.

    This is an opportunity to work at one of the most successful grain handling facilities in the world, which exports canola and cereal grains to countries along the Pacific Rim.

    Responsibilities:
    \r

    \r
    \r
    \tDevelop operational plan and coordinate schedules ensuring maximum utilization of the terminal asset\r
    \tEstablish daily receiving, cleaning and shipping priorities with Senior Director, Terminal Operations, logistics' team and operations supervisors\r
    \tAnalyze current stock position with logistics team to formulate plans on space utilization\r
    \tEnsure the logistics team reconciles physical inventory to paper stocks each day\r
    \tEffectively communicate strategy to Supervisors delegating responsibility for operational functions\r
    \tProvide support in the EH&S program and stewardship of the Collective Agreement\r
    \tExecutes on initiatives to develop, maintain and improve all areas of the EH&S program consistent to Corporate objectives\r
    \tProvide leadership and support in all operations safety related issues including incident investigation, resolution and participation in monthly JHSC meetings\r
    \tLiaise with the Maintenance Department, scheduling repair and capital projects with minimal operational interference\r
    \tReview daily, with the Maintenance Superintendent and logistics team, the mechanical and electrical repairs and projects required and the opportunities for scheduling same\r
    \tRecommend in cooperation with the Maintenance Superintendent, new installations, site improvements and proposed changes to increase productivity and efficiencies while reducing operating costs\r
    \tSupports the practices of the Collective Agreement ensuring consistency of application of articles and interpretation of language\r
    \tAs necessary, support the grievance, arbitration and negotiations processes ensuring all processes take place within corporate guidelines and expectations\r
    \tManage human resources, including operations workforce planning, hiring, scheduling, labour relations, performance management and facilitation of employee training and development\r
    \tRecognize employees based on merit and individual contributions while supporting a diverse and inclusive work environment\r
    \tProvide effective communication and development of strategies to ensure that the supervisory group and logistics team are engaged, up to date and connected on the rotation to support ongoing issues that arise\r
    \tConsistent messaging to the supervisory group; seek input in employee issues, operational issues\r

    Qualifications:
    \r

    \r
    Experience & Education/Training\r
    \r
    \r
    \tCertificate/Diploma in Agriculture, Business or related discipline is recommended\r
    \t5 years Terminal Supervisory Experience\r
    \tManagement experience an asset; particularly in a unionized environment\r
    \r
    \r
    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities\r
    \r
    \r
    \tSound understanding of the Agriculture industry\r
    \tDemonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet multiple deadlines\r
    \tStrong interpersonal skills and demonstrated leadership ability\r
    \tTravel may be required\r
    \tBudget planning, working knowledge of collective agreement and Canada Labor Code\r
    \r
