    Overview

    :

    The Equipment operator inspects, maintains, and operates the RMX plant and associated equipment, performing all activities necessary to ensure efficient material handling, yard duties, and team management, including but not limited to operating relevant heavy machinery (loader, telehandler, etc.), plant feeding, dump truck loading, block production and loading, yard cleaning, and more, while following and ensuring full compliance with Lafarge Health, Safety, and Environmental Policies, as well as WorkSafe BC Regulations

    The successful candidate shall be willing and able to perform all the required duties mentioned below. The intent of this job scope is to return our production team back to plant specific coverage. Please be patient with this transition as we continue to cautiously shift the structure to preserve the future of the business. Over time, and with adequate training, individuals may be asked to work at multiple depots throughout the operating area.

    This position reports directly to Plant Managers in the Metro Vancouver area with additional line responsibilities to the Operations Management team.     Responsibilities:

  • Represent Lafarge in a professional and courteous manner
  • Operate relevant heavy machinery (loader, telehandler, etc.) via plant feeding, dump truck loading, block production and loading, yard cleaning, etc. safely and efficiently
  • Perform all aspects of concrete block production including pouring, forming, finishing, de‐moulding
  • Manage and maintain yard water systems to ensure environmental compliance and efficient slurry management
  • Keep the site (and surrounding batch plant areas including offices) and yard (including block area) clean and orderly
  • Complete the Daily, Weekly and Monthly Plant Maintenance Record Book and report relevant issues to maintenance and/or supervisory personnel as appropriate
  • Perform daily housekeeping, safety compliance walk-around, and plant & mobile equipment inspections (support with repairs and/or report findings to maintenance/supervisory personnel as appropriate)
  • Communicate with QC/QA personnel regarding all raw material, admixture, and VAP issues
  • Perform monthly inventory counts and complete all other necessary month end reports
  • Assist plant operations with daily operations as required
  • Support plant operations with forecasting for typical and specialty inventory requirements (aggregates, KIM, Fibers, etc.) to ensure adequate raw material is available when required
  • Understand, promote, and aid whenever possible with the improvement of Lafarge Health & Safety and Environmental practices, policies, and efficiencies
  • Work within WCB and Company Safety Rules & Regulations as well ensure all site personnel (internal & external) are working within the same outlines
  • Comply with Lafarge Working Alone safe work practices and procedures
  • Perform other duties as required by Management and related Plant and Maintenance roles

    • Qualifications:

  • Valid heavy equipment certifications including front end loader, telehandler, etc
  • Previous experience with Confined Space, Working at Heights, Level 1 First Aid an asset

    • Competencies:

  • A level of fitness sufficient to perform all the required duties
  • Superior work ethic and a "Safety First" mentality in all areas of the workplace
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot operational problems in a timely fashion
  • Superior judgment and the ability to fix minor problems locally while referring major issues to appropriate maintenance and supervisory personnel
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work as a member of a team
