As a direct report to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO), the Director of Clinical Technologies assumes a critical role in the oversight of existing clinical technologies, particularly Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
Responsibilities include defining and prioritizing use cases, as well as identifying and integrating solutions for these cases.
Close collaboration with business leaders, IT teams, physicians, and management is essential to translate business requirements into a cohesive IT vision and strategic initiatives.
Leading a team consisting of EMR Analysts, business analysts, project managers, and external developers, the Director also manages external partnerships with key technology vendors to ensure the successful delivery of advanced technology solutions.
The primary objectives are to enhance patient care delivery and drive operational efficiency through optimized technology utilization.Provide visionary leadership and strategic direction in the development, enhancement, and maintenance of EMR services, applications, and systems architecture.
Manage and mentor a team of EMR Analysts, business analysts, and project managers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence.
Champion cybersecurity best practices and ensure the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of sensitive patient data within EMR systems.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline processes, optimize workflows, and enhance user experience within all clinical applications.
Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and technological advancements in healthcare IT, providing thought leadership and recommendations for continuous improvement.
Project Management:
Oversee the design, development, testing, and deployment of EMR solutions, ensuring alignment with industry best practices, regulatory requirements, and organizational goals.
Lead the evaluation and selection of external vendors and development partners, managing vendor relationships and negotiating contracts to ensure optimal service delivery and cost-effectiveness.
Provide strategic guidance on the integration of emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and data analytics, to enhance clinical decision-making and patient outcomes.
Demonstrated expertise in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) services, application development, and advanced technology architecture.
Proven leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams, including EMR Analysts, business analysts, project managers, and external developers.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence diverse audiences at all levels of the organization.
Familiarity with agile development methodologies and project management frameworks (e.g., Scrum, Kanban).
Knowledge of healthcare quality metrics, performance measures, and reporting requirements.
Experience with the Due Diligence process for mergers and acquisitions.
Proficient in building organizational frameworks, including recruitment, and hiring processes tailored to specific needs.
Master's degree in Healthcare Informatics, Computer Science, or a related field preferred or equivalent experience.
Project Management Professional certification or equivalent experience.
