    Description

    The Finance Branch is seeking an analytical and methodical thinker for the position of Financial Consultant. You will be responsible for providing senior level financial management, advisory, interpretative, consultative and research services covering a wide range of sensitive, public interest, and strategic policy development initiatives. This includes developing the budget/forecasting, accounting, financial reporting and controls which directly impact on the effective operations of all program divisions and on the delivery of the ministry's programs. You will perform research and develop policy for central ministry accounting and administrative processes and systems and their application, within the program divisions, to ensure ministry and government objectives are met in accordance with government legislation, policy, and accepted principles. You will be committed to the ideals of an accountable and well-performing public sector in order to identify and recommend continuous improvement opportunities.

    The ideal candidate will have outstanding organizational, interpersonal and communications skills, extensive knowledge of corporate or government financial planning and experience at a senior level with a complex work environment. The ability to think analytically and creatively to support the ministry's vision, and to connect with the public service at all levels is essential.

    Typically, knowledge for this position is gained through the successful completion of undergraduate Degree in Commerce or Business Administration combined with a CPA accounting designation.
