- Assess, evaluate and negotiate on Mid Market commercial risks with minimum premiums of $10,000 including property, liability, umbrella, inland marine product lines.
- Apply effective pricing and underwriting strategies in accordance with the company guidelines and personal underwriting authority limits.
- Within your level of authority, quote, negotiate, sell, and authorize the acceptance of moderate to complex new business, renewals, and endorsements to develop and retain profitable business according to the business plan established for the department.
- Build strong relationships with National Brokers including broker visits, insurance industry functions and marketing events in the territory including Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba.
- Arrange reinsurance if and when required.
- Answer inquiries, develop and monitor business with brokers through visits, discussions, and correspondence.
- Use the computer system for policy inquiry, electronic filing, underwriting and rating transactions.
- Make recommendations to improve the department and increase its efficiency.
- Foster cooperative broker relationships to identify and develop sales opportunities.
- Some travel is required.
- Collaborate with a virtual team in a hybrid work environment with 2 days in the office minimum.
- College or University graduate
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
- Completion of CIP designation (or progress towards) is an asset
- Strong track record of developing, mentoring and coaching teammates
- Can develop and maintain excellent relationships with brokers
- Great communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Strong negotiating skills and business savvy
- Strong analytical and technical experience
- Initiative and can work under pressure
- Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office products and computer tools
- No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
