    Technical Leader of the National DNA Data Bank

    Duties

    • Leads project teams in validating new methodologies
    • Conducts quality assurance monitoring of forensic science programs
    • Develops SOPs and technical manuals
    • Interprets analytical results in complex cases
    • Trains internal and external clients
    • Conducts research and development projects
    • Provides expert witness testimony in courts of law

    Work environment

    • Need to balance priority demands with interruptions
    • Requirement for emotional composure during expert witness testimony
    • Potential exposure to graphic information and biological materials

    Intent of the process

    Staff one position on an indeterminate basis, with a linguistic profile of English Essential and an Enhanced Reliability security clearance

    Information you must provide

    List of completed and ongoing courses this academic year

    Essential qualifications

    • Master of Science or PhD degree in biology, biochemistry, chemistry or related area
    • Forensic Specialist training program in biology
    • Significant experience in forensic biology

    Knowledge

    • Scientific methods for DNA analysis
    • Quality assurance and control

    Abilities/Skills

    • Effective communication and leadership
    • Problem-solving and organization

    Personal Suitability

    • Interpersonal skills and motivation
    • Attention to detail and initiative

    Experience

    • Court testimony in forensic biology or missing persons cases
    • Kinship DNA analysis and laboratory audits

    Operational Requirements

    • Willingness to travel and provide expert witness testimony
    • Ability to work shifts and overtime
