    Overview

    Term: 2 Years

    The Curriculum & Assessment Facilitator oversees activities related to the development of, and revisions to, undergraduate and graduate programs in the Faculty of Science. Curriculum development, program revisions (., right-sizing) and assessment (., IQAP) have both been identified as strategic priorities for the Faculty of Science. Organized management and oversight of the curriculum development and revision process, and program assessment are critical to enrolment growth, financial sustainability, and maintaining rigorous educational standards and national accreditation status. The Facilitator provides high-level support in both portfolios.

    The Curriculum & Assessment Facilitator's scope of work includes day-to-day management of program development and revision in the Faculty of Science as well as special projects important to the long-term goals of enrolment growth and strategic enrolment management. The Facilitator works toward efficient process management across all their responsibilities and integrates with main campus systems as it applies to program development and revision. The Facilitator will also provide support for the Indigenous Initiatives Advisory Council and other groups related to Indigenous program and course development, requiring cultural sensitivity and confidence in interacting with senior University leadership.

    The Curriculum & Assessment Facilitator reports to the Dean of Science and takes academic direction in terms of the curriculum development and revision from the Chairs and Directors through the Associate Dean of Teaching and Learning.

    Responsibilities

    Curriculum Management and Instructional Support

    Curriculum

  • Provides senior level support to the Dean of Science and Departments/Schools
  • Has a thorough understanding of the mandate of Faculty of Science strategic initiatives
  • Ensures curriculum information is disseminated in an effective and timely manner amongst various stakeholders (Curriculum Committee, Assessment Committee, staff, faculty, students, graduate studies,
  • Supports the development and revision of academic degree programs, and ensures that proposal are successfully moved through the approval process (Faculty, Senate and MCU)
  • Supports, as needed, the creation, update and approval of course proposals
  • Supports Departments/Schools and Associate Deans in developing and communicating curriculum mapping, including and maintains a curriculum mapping database for the Faculty of Science
  • Supports Departments/Schools in curriculum accreditation activities
  • Updates and monitors course descriptions and other information published in the Undergraduate Calendar and Course Catalog to ensure accuracy
  • Provides culturally sensitive, high-level support to the Indigenous Initiatives Advisory Council.
  • Liaise with the Centre for Teaching Excellence and other offices as necessary
  • Assessment and Quality Assurance Management

  • Provides senior-level support to the Dean of Science office in assessment and Quality Assurance issues based on a thorough understanding of assessment and quality assurance process
  • Supports, as needed, the preparation for and follow-up to meetings; organizes and schedules meetings; prepares agendas, minutes and supporting material
  • Supports Chairs, Directors or Associate Deans, as needed, in Oversees all aspects of annual quality assurance and assessment processes including surveys, data tracking and analytics
  • Provides strategic support regarding the implementation of assessment plans and continuous quality improvement cycles
  • Reviews and suggests process improvements related to the Assessment Plan on an ongoing basis
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Project Management

  • Provides project management expertise for various curriculum and assessment projects and other special projects across the Faculty of Science
  • Creates and manages project timelines, milestones and deliverables using appropriate methodologies and techniques
  • Develops mechanisms for tracking project progress and provides regular reports to stakeholders

  • Qualifications

  • University degree or equivalent post-secondary education and experience
  • Preference for certification in project management and/or curriculum development/assessment
    A minimum of 5 years' experience working in the post-secondary sector
  • Familiarity with University program development and assessment processes
  • Excellent time management, organization and communication (oral and written) skills
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite (including MS Access and Project), Quest, LEARN, WCMS, SharePoint, Qualtrics, Adobe Pro
  • Demonstrated skills in curriculum analysis and/or development
  • Preference for experience with cyclical reviews
  • Demonstrated strong problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to engage professionally with diverse groups, including faculty, staff, and students
  • Has the ability to work comfortably with both in-person, online and hybrid events
