    JOB DESCRIPTION

    Actalent is seeking an experienced Functional Safety Engineer for an opportunity with one of our clients to work on cutting edge technology in the semiconductor industry.

    Our client in Ottawa is one of the worlds largest Semiconductor and Software companies, developing products and solutions for safer systems, software and chips meeting ISO compliance. Their products help companies throughout the value chain deliver and produce smaller, faster, and more efficient SoCs and Software systems, helping their customers optimize architectures, accelerate software testing, and increase vehicle safety and security.

    The client has a 3rd party internal functional safety team that helps guide product teams in HW and SW on Requirements, Architecture, and Design as it pertains to ISO. They are looking for someone to work with the functional and product teams to help accelerate their compliance as they grow and develop products for the worlds largest Automotive Tier 1 & 2 Companies.

    Responsibilities

  • Assist development teams in the planning, concept, design, implementation, and verification of functional safety across several disciplines for hardware, firmware, embedded software, and mixed products and solutions.
  • Conduct thorough evaluations of both qualitative and quantitative functional safety studies, including FMEDA, DFMEA, DFA, and FTA confirmation reviews.
  • Conduct thorough analyses of documentation, including definitions of functional safety mechanisms, technical safety ideas, and architecture specifications.
  • Support the functional safety assessment process.
  • Collaborate with product and field teams to assess customer requirements regarding automotive dependability, functional safety, and quality.

    • Must Haves:

  • Automotive Functional Safety (FuSa, ISO ) Experience – 2 + years
  • SW/FW/HW (Semiconductor) Experience - 4 + Years
  • Experience with the delivery or analysis of analysis' such as FMEDA, DFMEA, DFA, FTA etc.

    • Additional Assets:

  • Formal training in ISO
  • Working knowledge of automotive reliability standards such as AEC Q
  • Working knowledge of quality standards such as ISO or IATF
  • Knowledge of semiconductor development flows
